2014 food plot planting

    Had a busy day Saturday food plotting. Had my youngest with me who was my big helper.


    Picked up 1680 lbs of pellet lime, 250 lbs of 18-18-18 and 50 lbs of 0-0-60 per the soil test.

    I sprayed the plots twice over the last month to make sure they were good and dead. First we spread the lime at a rate of 3000lbs/acre.

    Then we fertilized.

    I then dragged it to smooth out the clumps of clay. Hand seeded. Then dragged over the top to cover.


    This plot is about 0.3 acre and will be all Brassicas.

    This plot is about 0.2 acre and will be cereal grains consisting of winter rye, 4010 peas and red clover. It is ready to go but I won't plant it till mid Aug.

    Now we just need a little rain. But not too much.

    Look really good. Worked on my food plots this weekend as well. Hope to get it planted soon.
