Went and got the oil changed and new brakes on my 4 runner. I'm sitting here waiting for ups to drop off my gps and rain gear. I had to order one last thing overnight today. Probably the most important thing. Extra contacts! I'm blind as a bat so no contacts would leave me sitting at camp lol.

I'm blind without mine too lol. I'm wearing a pair of contacts, bringing an extra pair with glasses for back up.

I am glad I don't need glasses! Would not be fun.

The forecast keeps looking wetter, I really hope it doesn't rain all week. Or it just does the quick shower thing cause I can't find my rain pants.

A week hunting in the rain is better than a week working in the rain!

Buy some cheapo camo rain pants. A cold, wet butt gets old fast.

I got my rain gear in tonight. Took a little bit to figure out how to pack it in itself lol. Gotta wash all my Camo tomorrow evening. But after adding my rain gear and filling my water pouch up, my backpack definitely picked up a little weight. Need to weigh it and see what it's at.

I am almost ready myself. I stayed never wet on my boots and probably going to do that to a few other things. Also got a rescue card from the army surplus for 3 bucks. It will be either the best 3 bucks I ever spent or a good 3 bucks I wasted.

Im bringing cheap jerky and food for while I scout. All you really need is a loaf of bread, some peanut butter, and some jerky.

And yes, being wet, gets old fast. I only have one set of rain gear. Stupid me. Oh well.

Good luck everyone! I'm hitting the road this AM. If things go well for us, I'm hoping to hit up your Camp before heading back home. Shoot straight!

I've never had an issue on the large passes when not pulling trailer...unfortunately I will be the guy doing 10mph in the right lane with our trailer:) Your Avenger would zip through no prob, but guess that the load you're bringing will make you feel it a bit - and car will downshift a lot going up. 2nd gear on the downhills is great advice, try to use breaks as little as possible, until you really need them. It's hard not to site see if its your first trip in the Rockies...

I work inside and still agree:)

Do not get wet! Miserable, but also dangerous as it could be snowing in 10 minutes, 99 cent disposable ponchos are better than nothing for waiting out a storm.

You must have hunter safety number with you first time you buy license in CO so they can enter into system, I would have card/proof on you for that just in case. No need to carry rest of week.

Bought a pound of Jacks Links jerky...sadly have not made deer (or elk) jerky in years. I have to have jerky for every road trip.

Knock 'em dead Fitz! Bring those big racks by for us to see...

I checked the Ten day forecast for Red Cliff Colorado which is four miles from camp. I hope you guys packed your rain gear.

Friday 19th high of 72 Low 42 50% chance of precip.
Saturday 20th high of 71 Low 43 30% chance of precip Wind ENE 8 mph
Sunday 21st high of 67 Low 44 80% chance of precip Wind SSE 8 mph
Monday 22nd high of 63 Low 39 80% chance of precip Wind SSW 9mph
Tuesday 23rd high of 60 Low 39 40% chance of precip Wind West 9 mph
Wednesday 24th high 64 Low 39 20% chance of precip Wind WNW 10 mph
Thursday 25th high 66 Low 38 10% chance of precip Wind WNW 10 mph
Friday 26th high of 66 Low 37 10% chance of precip Wnd NW 7 mph

Remember rain at Red Cliff could be snow up higher. Winds look to be good nothing crazy anyway. Lows look to be decent nothing to cold at night
