Great news Colby!!! There is nothing better than being a Dad. I also agree, that I love being around kids so much because I'm still one...I warned my wife that I will never grow up, and so far so good:)

Thinking through my pack, two smaller items that come to mind - both of which seem to apply more to the warm/sunny days (not sure we'll have this year)
1)chapstick: my first year my lips were cracking like crazy starting on day 1
2)water purifier or water treatment tablets: I've always just carried a couple tablets (size of aspirin), but now have small filter, don't really plan to use...but lifesaver if for some reason stranded. Again, I can only recall two times I ran out of water - and it was on very warm 70+ degree days and sun...and was headed back to vehicle both times.

Colby - I'll PM you my cell...when do you plan to arrive to camp?

Ya I still need to get my first aid kit together. I plan on throwing in chapstick, nasal spray, and other little things that will help. Didn't think about a water purifier. I'll definitely go look at some options. I also have 4 packages of moleskin so I can prevent blisters before they start. Boots are comfortable but I'm not taking the chance.

    Matt,

We should arrive in camp around noon Saturday the 20th. Good call on the chapstick always seem to get chapped lips up there.
Its forty degrees down here in the plains of Colorado right now. Don't know if it got to freezing in camp lastnight but bet it was close.

I cheap easy water filter is the life straw. They are less than $20 and will filter 264 gallons off one straw pretty neat really.

We are expecting about the same time Saturday, maybe late morning since hoping to leave 1-2 hours earlier than last year...

This link showed 32 degrees at 7:00 this morning...bet is was frosty at camp! http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-106.34504&lat=39.46515#.VBL8g_F0zIU

I got one of those life straws a few weeks ago just in case I run out of water in the mountain, I have a 6 liter msr bag but I drink a ton of water when I'm not hiking in the mountains. I am also putting together a weeks worth of trail mix and have most of my first aid kit together.

High for my area is 50° today and rainy. Was running late today and threw on my shorts. I'm regretting that right now.

We are still running upper 80s right now. Looks like there are a couple more 90s headed our way too but I won't be here :) by the time I get back it should be back down to low 80s upper 70s

I got the Sawyer Point One water purifier system, well happy with it.

Was gonna go with a thumb release as back up, really like the reviews on the Spot Hogg Whipper Snapper and the Tru-Ball Diamond Pro Extreme.... Thoughts?, although Rob is bringing his spare Carter Target 4 incase I wanna take it home :)

I bought a Tru Fire this summer that is miles better than the old Cobra I've used for years.

I've never tried a thumb release. I've shot the same $15 Zero Gap (nylon strap) trigger release for 20yrs now...was lucky enough to find someone giving away one they didn't like about 10yrs ago that has been in my pack since for a backup...going to cry if they ever both break. I love that the nylon strap just stays at it's setting and I can slip my hand in/out in seconds without ever having to do buckles or Velcro...I can't even find a picture online to show you, lol, that should tell me something...

What's the water situation at the camp gonna be? Is there gonna be a lister bag or big cooler?

Bottled water for drinking. We will make a run to the creek for dish water and cooking water that will be boiled stored in a barrel or water container.

They said it was a new officer enforcing it, first time in 20 years it has happened! They were told there is a 15 day clause once 2 weeks are up before you can camp again! Im sure there ways around it like breaking camp before 2 weeks and going to another
