As long as you don't go on any 4x4 jeep trails which are marked you will be fine Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
I bought the s4 gear lock down harness. From the little I've used it I like it a lot. Keeps my binos protected.
I have a binocular case that goes around my shoulders and sits on my chest Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
I know its been asked but, what GPSs are yall using? i remember reading about someone saying they downloaded some maps they could load to it and add waypoints and such. Call me lazy but we are up to 117 pages and i dont want to start back tracking to find it lol. Im trying to get one off ebay instead of buy new. that should save a couple hundred bucks.
I have a Garmin 62 but make sure you get one that accepts SD cards mine doesn't that is the only thing I would change Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
ok i thought someone said something about the etrex but i couldnt remember. think the 20 looks good. that gets the sd slot.
Ya the sd is nice to have. I just got the map I wanted downloaded and transfered it to the card. That's it.
I received a text from Aussie John, it rained the entire night Monday. It's raining up there now. Make sure you have rain gear! When you turn west onto FR 705, go about 100 yrds. Take the first left and stay left. You will be driving south for about another 100 yrds into camp. You will see the big white tents! I doubt anyone else but our group will be there! If someone knocks something down and we have a need to freeze, store, and/or process the meat, we can do that. My second home is only forty minutes away. I have two freezers there and the city market butcher will cut and wrap an elk for $200. He does an incredible job! I will also have a freezer and a generator at the camp.
GPS = Garmin Foretrex 401 Binocular Harness = KUIU Binocular chest harness Don't mind a bit of rain Will
Hmmm Dave...you set yourself up for a ethnic comment regarding the rain. I thought you were a pommy, not a frog?
Haha, you know where I'll stick that flag :D I have all the guys at work counting my day's down for me, I cannot escape the build up to this years Elk Camp, 8days and counting guys.
That was Great! As Colby said, many roads are fine for car. General rule I've seen is that the higher you travel, the worse the roads get...and if they are marked 4x4 on map, they are serious (doubt I'd even take a new 4WD truck up them - one reason I like having an old ride) I still believe a reputable GPS is best for safety - but don't forget another option for smart phone owners is to download a GPS/topo app and buy extra batter/charging cell for about $20. I have great luck using my phone and almost use exclusively now...but again, would not want my life depending on it should things ever get bad (my garmin etrex20 is always with me as well) It's already starting...
Isn't the garmin 401 a running watch? If so I believe u have the 601 model but I don't know how it can be used as a hunting gps?
How often do you guys encounter other groups of hunters? I hate being the guy that wanders into someone elses setup.
The only hunters I've ran into were our own guys and some muzzle loader hunters but they don't usually get very far from their vehicles
