Hahahahaha I can't have facial hair at my job so never have gone very long. My boss is on vacation so I should be able to not shave till after the trip. Most of you guys will probably surpass me the 1st day. Lol

Yes - Will pointed me toward Walmart in Frisco, CO...been buying them there ever since, very easy access right off I-70.

I spoke with COW, that is only before season, once season opens, all OTC tags can be bought at any vendor.

I'll do my best to have the Joe Dirt facial hair going...you'll have to get real close to see it:)

    LOL

I currently have a handle bar mustache right now. The deal with the wife is I have to shave it when I get back from camp.

Is the camp easy to find? I'll be arriving early morning so it will be dark.

Yes camp is really easy to find it is right off high 24 on Forrest Road 705 you can see camp from the highway may be a little tougher to see in the dark but you should see lights on depending on what time you arrive.

Will you be heading north or south on hwy 24?
Forest rd 705 (No Name Rd) is almost 4 miles south of the bridge at Red Cliff. Turn west onto Forest Rd 705 and look to your left for the big tent.
Google earth Red Cliff, CO and you'll be able to get a better idea.
It might be a little tough to see in the dark but shouldn't be too bad.
If it were me, I'd sleep in the truck at Walmart in Avon and wait for the sun to come up. Or stop in Vail or Minturn and get a good hot breakfast til sunrise. It's a damn nice drive down 24 to camp.

K random question. I know we talked about shower, laundry mat in the local towns. Are they little places that only take cash or do they take plastic? I'm not one to ever carry cash so want to know before I get there if I need to make an atm stop.

Who knows, we might run into each other. We probably won't be quite that early though. We'll be in a white Tundra with Louisiana plates.

The laundry mat does not take plastic. Most other places do. It wouldn't hurt to have some cash on hand.

I'm totally putting the cart before the horse here, but skinning/field processing an elk would be a first for me. Do you guys do the gutless method? Seems like a lot less work when dealing with something as large as an elk??

I would think the gutless method would be the easiest. I've watched that video over and over.
