Always good to practice in different positions, but so far I have not found the need to shoot from my knees...typically still trying to move last second for open shot (hard to on knees), and most times the terrain is so uneven I'm not sure I could stay upright on my knees - much easier to brace yourself while standing. I've never noticed bugs (and with the way our tent smells by end of week I'm surprised) I've seen more snow flakes than I have bugs... I think tomorrow will make 6 straight days over 100 heat index here...I crave that cool/dry mountain air Good Luck OK!!! Have a ball...
Colby, we stayed in what they call a Canadian Yurt, we rented it out for 2 weeks, but only slept in it I think for 6 nights. Very snug inside and basic cooking facilities, but Myself and Andy who you saw on the movie are back in there for 2016. I loved it and surrounding area was awe inspiring, it was a honey hole
My luck, my midterm for my hardest class is smack dab right during this week. Haha, going to see what I should do.
I see some 30's in forecast the next couple nights at elk camp - that sounds great! Colby - weather looks great for the weekend! National Weather Service
I hope you can still make it. Amd you just succeeded to make me even more excited and will probably make my weeks go by slower. Thanks alot. Lol
Matt, The weather does look good for this weekend with some slight chances of rain. They are saying it is supposed to be cooler and wetter than normal this year. I'm ready to get out of the flat lands a while, do some camping, hiking, fishing, and look for some elk.
I used some recommended leather sealer on my boots the first 2 years, even though they were "waterproof"...but waterproof seems to wear out of boots after a season or two. Quick creek crossings or puddles seem to be fine, but if a wet and/or rainy day with wet grass all day - my feet always seem to get wet. And when hot and dry, my feet get wet from sweat...I can't imagine any possible way to have dry feet/socks at the end of a day...Luckily, I have experienced far more dry days then wet while elk hunting...but always plan for the worse.
Plenty of time for Bugle Call criticism on the long drive to camp Who doesn't love loud elk calls in the vehicle... ...with 30 guys at times in camp, we could really sound like a herd of bulls
