Its in unit 45 however you just get an over the counter either sex elk tag and you can hunt any over the counter unit. It isn't just one or a few units its all over the counter units.

Ok sweet thank you. I'm excited. I have 3 weeks of practice so I'll be ready. Do y'all group up or does everyone just split up and do what they do out there

Yeah it's a depressing proposition to play that game. Either be really lucky or fork up some $$$ for a Dall or Stone hunt. Heck just tagging along on a hunt without a tag would be a blast I'm sure.

Ok enough hijacking you boys elk thread with sheep talk:)

I found these fishing rods the size of a pen. I'm going to put one in my back pack for our camping trip. We shall see how they work.

Have any of ya'll seen these? Don't know how strong they are

    Frog,

I know nothing about fly fishing so I don't know if thats to much or not. For elk camp we can drive right to the creek so I will bring my regular fihsing pole so I don't think you can have to much. You won't have to carry it far anyway. I think fly fishing would be fun and definetly want to get into it I just know nothing about it right now.

Pat that will work great. I've got a little 4 or 5 ft spinning rod I'll have in camp. I'll bring some extras too that way if someone doesn't have a rod or doesn't want to pack a rod can fish too.

Actually Wyoming preference points are $50. The length of the wait depends on the area you are applying for and how high the demand is. There are areas that are pretty easy to draw too.

Crossed wires there ^. We were discussing Sheep points.

I agree on the elk points, I either have 5 or 6 after this fall so I should be cashing in in the next few years.

Colby, I know nothing about fly fishing either but I thought that u had to have a fly rod for trout so I got a cheap set up. I also got it for smallmouth fishing here too and I am bringing a regular spinning rod also. What kind of trout do you guys catch out there?

I honestly don't know would guess mainly rainbows, cut throught, maybe brookies (I'll be able to tell ya more after labor day weekend and show you pictures too). You can fish trout with any set up I put together my little tackle box last night for my camping trip. Threw in some spinners and powerbait/salmon eggs.

I've looked at some cheap set ups found one for $189 but didn't buy it. I didn't want to pack it all the way to the lake I'm camping at next weekend to find out I didn't know how to use it.

What kind did you get and what did it cost?
