Colby - I'd definitely pick one up if I could get resident pricing like yourself...just in case.
Plus - if someone gets an elk down that's not too hard to get back to, might be worth sitting on the carcass a couple days later...I'd love to see someone drag a bear into camp!!!

I know someone mentioned less licensing agents this year - when I checked online it still lists Walmart in Frisco as being an agent - that is very convenient to pull off highway and get tag on way to camp for anyone looking for a place to stop...

Yeah for $41 bucks being a resident I like to get them as it isn't to much money and I happen to come upon one I would really like to take it with my bow. This gives me the opportunity.

Dan good to hear glad you got it!!

Yeah but how early did you have to get up and how far did you have to hike in order to get that view:)

Great shot Matt. I just remember most days you coming back to camp after me and leaving the next morning before me. That your just reward.

Non resident over the counter with cap bear tags are $351. Not really worth for non resident as odds are you will not see a bear. For $40 I take the chance just in case

With as many deer tags as we should have in camp there should be game at least. Would be nice to see elk, deer, and bear hanging in camp. With trout also. We would fiest like kings.

Hey I didn't read thru every post but it sounded like some folks were gonna wait til they got to CO to buy their elk tags. IF you decide to do that beware that you can only purchase them at a CO Parks N Wildlife office once the season starts which is August 30th. We can't just pull into to Walmart anymore and buy them like before. The offices are not open on weekends so if you show up on the weekend, you'll have to wait til monday to get legal. I read Colby's post #825 in this thread a month ago and it sounded different so I called. Yes, they changed the rules a bit.
Colby or Will, if y'all find out otherwise please let us know but this is what an agent told me over the phone.

Waid is correct here is what the brochure says:

OveR-The-CounTeR unlIMITeD LICenses These are available to resident and nonresident hunters.
There are an unlimited number of these licenses that may be purchased at any time up until the
day before your hunting season starts. After the season starts, they are available at CPW offices only.

I would suggest ordering them online. Like as Waid said if you arrive on the weekend you won't be able to hunt until you get a tag monday. I don't know where the closest division of wildlife office is up there. However if you get your license online before the season starts you can ensure you have what you need to be able to start hunting upon arrival.

Nice catch fellas! That is a big change as we have always arrived on a Sat...

Now - do I order before...or do I use this as an excuse to leave one day earlier and arrive on Friday?:)

I have not purchased online before - do you print off your tag or do they still mail a physical tag to your home? Want to make sure I'm getting the correct info to the other 4 guys in my ride...
