I cant consider it this year because of a "prior commitment" to bear hunting, but it sounds like this is something being done each year? What an awesome opportunity! Definitely would like to jump on the train for a different year!!

I am coming that way about that time but I think chopayne will be riding with me. If he isnt, I could pick him up. I think chop said he would let me know sometime in august depending on his schedule.

Trying to get to washing my pack. This marine must've sweated his balls off or loved the beach. White stains everywhere! Yes I know that has bad connotations.

Found one broken buckle for the waist belt. Emailed the seller to see if I could get a replacement. In terms of the pack, I have the lid, but I feel like it's missing a buckle in the center of the lid[IMG] see where there's the extra buckle? If there were something tie into there from the lid it would make it secure.

Otherwise I feel like it needs more lumbar support. It has the regular grimy military feel with dirt, sweat and tape which I can deal with. For my back, I certainly wouldn't recommend this for long overland hauls. Definitely has lots of straps and buckles as mentioned previously.

Not bad for the price, it should do the job.

I'll take a pic of mine when I get a chance. I've streamlined it quite a bit by removing most straps and some of the webbing. You pack looks cleaner than mine is now. Mine is getting filthy from loading it up and hitting the woods.

Well...my countdown training officially began last night...we're down to about 46 days...time to pick things up a notch and get shooting as much as possible.

I've been out the last week, my Mom/Dad took our whole family to Disney last week - 17 of us - had a great week with family, but the Florida heat had me dreaming of cool mountains.

School starts in 2 weeks here, and my wife will be returning to teach 1st grade after staying home the last 6 years with the babies. My 3rd and 5th grade boys start flag & tackle football next week (and I'm coaching again)...and I still have some work to do on this bathroom remodel so I can even go to Elk Camp:) Looks like sleep will be hard to come by the next 6 weeks...love this time of year.

Enjoy the rest of summer everyone!

I get bored shooting my compound inside of 40 yards because it's too easy really for practice.... But I'm currently in Birmingham so long range is out of the question... I've compromised and brought my recurve to Bham last night to start shooting it daily. My main concern is building back up that unique muscle used for drawing and holding a bow. I'll also be running or doing stadium sprints daily from this point forward. 3 weeks out from hunting season!
