I also bought a new glock and lots of equipment for this trip! Needless to say my bank account is getting a workout!

59 days and 15 hours. Not excited or anything! Too bad you can't make the trip!

Same here with the bank account. Been backtracking and re analyzing my purchase to make it feasible. Whoever wrote about the Marine ILBE with their logic saved me about $600.

I would say yes. Especially in the event of a heavy pack out. But ask 100 people and 50 will say no and 50 yes...

I have never used for elk camp - although had in vehicle. But after having a good set with me on my wife and I's recent backpacking trip...I will always have with me when planning to pack a heavy load.
Not sure if I'll leave them attached to my pack or only use them if I return for second load...but they were a noticeable benefit on my legs & back when using with a loaded pack...both going uphill and downhill. Very handy at stream crossings also.

Do you really need them, no. Can they nice at certain times, yes.

I wouldn't carry one while hunting as I like to have my bow out and ready. You never know when you will see an elk. But can see the advantage to them for packing out. Hadn't thought of that

Mine will be attached to my pack and usually always are. I don't want to pack my 6x6 I'm going to kill without them:)

I'll add to my list of newb gear questions. Leg gaiters, needed or not?

Been following this thread since it started. Hats off to Iamyourhuckleberry and CowboyColby for throwing this hunt together for any and everybody that's interested.

I will be out for a 2 week vacation with the wife who has never been west of Kansas City. We are heading through southern Colorado up to Crestted Butte and driving Keebler Pass to see golden aspens. Just wondering late Sept. if aspens are at full color in your area as we will be heading up to Idaho & Wyoming and might cut up through that area. I will keep following this thread and good luck to all.

The Aspens will be changing. We pass many tourists stopping on the side of the road to take pictures around Red Cliff. Its very pretty that time of year. If you come through any time September 20-28 stop by camp its right off the highway and say hi. Off hwy 24 on forrest road 705.
