For hunting Will has two big Wall tents with a cook shack in the middle all connected. This is the first year ill be taking a water filter but thats just to cut down on how much water I have to carry. There is not a cabin you will need a 0 degree sleeping bag or better for camp. But you wont be packing it while hunting Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
And a cot if you have one. Will reserves his extra cots for those flying in Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Dan is correct I'm piggybacking my camping trip on this thread as it is many of the same items and in the same area we will be hunting Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Sierra Trading Post has 40% off orders tonight, no minimum...use code SFB 71614...our like them on FB to see offer.
I really like that site Matt thanks for the heads up. Its got better prices than REI Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
40 would work but you would sleep in a beanie, long johns, need a pad, quilt, etc. Mine is zero degree and I put it inside a bed roll with pad and blankets. Our first night in 2012 I was cold because our heater did not work so we wouldn't run it before bed like normal Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Ok.. I'm going to read through ALL the post.. but is this an every year deal? And $$$ for joining the camp.. outside of the tag cost? Just trying to scramble to get this together.... seems too good to be true edit: Sorry... new on the site and found this... been searching for something like this all my life.
Airman will put s this on every other year outside your tag and travel cost all he asks for is 100 American per guy to help pay for the food he supplies. You bring hunting gear, cot, sleeping bag and whatever you need to survive a day on the mountain elk hunting Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Airman. Where are you stationed? Also for clarification will is Will who is a guy if you were confused. Sorry colby but whenever you write will it almost goes perfectly into a sentence. = )
I do the same thing except bigger. I got a 55L dry sack that I line the inside of my kifaru with. The sleep system goes in it's own 20L bag at the bottom (bivy, pad, bag) then everything else goes into the large one on top. No need for a easily torn raincover and my bag could literally be dunked in the river and still be okay.
Hadn't thought of that TEmbry thats a great idea. How big is your pack? Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
If anyone is looking for a cot, walmart.com has one for $29.99 in stores it is $50. It's probably not the best one or extremely comfortable but for the price can't be terrible and is better than sleeping on the ground. Packs up into a small zippered bag that isn't bulky.
I need to get a cot. If I keep spending money, that cot will be my permanent bed in the dog house lol
That's another great use of the dry sacks! Also - for those trying to go the cheapest route, can even pick up the large Hefty/Ziploc bags...I picked up some that were 3 gallon I believe for our overnight hike to hot springs...worked great to keep items dry in pack and also just for keeping organized - food in one, stove/kit in another, etc. Not sure I'd recommend for a week long or Alaska type adventure...but for day use and easy overnights from a base camp...very handy (and only like $4 for 10 of them)
