Also what broad head or mech are you guys using? If I just got my bow tuned. Will a broad head tuning basically negate the money I just spent?
I used Muzzy 3 blade 100g for deer but I think I am going to go up to a 125g for this trip. This is probably a stupid noob question but if i change the broadheads (25g more up front) will i need to resite my bow? Or could my archer shop pro make the arrows weigh the same so they fly the same? Chopa what is your schedule like? I will be coming through St Louis. I think my plan is to come through and spend Fri night in Kansas City (or closer) and then drive in the rest of the way on Saturday.
Well honestly. I don't surely know. This trip happened to be during the next semester of my course so I don't have that schedule, also being military and the program I'm in I can only miss one day of class. Right now it's Tues through Thursday, I don't imagine it being too different next semester. If that is the case I can start on Friday, but you'd have to be here on Friday morning...early. then I'd have to make sure I'm back Tuesday night before midnight lest I go awol. I'm guessing you're staying more days than that? There is a chance I can swing more days but it's slim. Either that or we could partner up in stl or kc and do the drive there where you park in either city and you fly back! Or vice versa.
Yeah i am planning on staying in camp from the 20-28. If you want you can ride out with me and then fly back Tuesday evening. One of us could get you back to the airport tuesday evening.
I am jealous. Let me see if I can miss more days. The only thing I wonder about is the meat. If I do get an elk, how do I get the meat back?
Hopefully Will or one of the other guys can chime in on that. I know there are a lot of guys who fly in and they have to get meat home some how.
Hmm alright, hopefully they approve 3 days or the break is right between semesters, which would be incredible timing.
Which direction do guys go? I was looking at the map just wondering. And do people drive down the road and go in at different points?
I'll be using Slick Trick standards 125grn, they are proven Elk busters and there will be plenty of help to get your meat off the mountain. I'm flying in from UK, so I'll be eating as much elk as I can, before donating whats left to others...... when I get my Elk that is
I want talking about getting elk off the mountain, I meant flying it home. I'm just hopefully they let me get the whole week off!
chopa where are you located? Ill be coming home the same way so if you were to come out and then fly back home after killing something, we could always freeze it and then i could drop it off on my way home. I dont have a lot of coolers though so you would have to bring one i could bring it back to you in.
Fort leonardwood, Missouri, but id definitely meet you along your way. St louis is 1.5 hours away, and im pretty sure Fort Leonardwood, is way far out of your way. Wouldn't want you to go way far out of your route. When do you need plans locked in? I certainly can't get a definite answer until the end of august. If I can get 20-28 we'll do the full deal, if not, im planning on the drive in/fly out deal. of course, everything always subject to change. Id definitely make sure you had coolers and whatever else to not inconvenience you.
end of august is fine. My dad is thinking about flying out middle of the week and then riding back with me but he isnt for sure yet.
Amazon.com: Vanguard 10x42 Binocular with ED Glass (Black): Sports & Outdoors For anyone who hasn't bought binos, ive never used them but if what they say is true, it seems like a great deal.
Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk Testing out my pack to make sure I could get all my gear in it for my up coming camping trip. It contains my tent, sleeping bag, rain gear, jet boil, GPS, under armour to sleep in if it gets cold. Now just have to get fishing pole and small tackle box attached somehow.
We aren't allowed to take any home, its illegal to take any meat back on the plane, thus I will be sharing out what I cannot eat.
I think someone brought this up. Arrows. Looking to pick some up at AT classifieds or just buying brand new. Need to know what I need for setup, can anyone chime in? I'm looking at fmj 340 probably 27-27.5" dl. Haven't decided on exact broad head but I'm guessing one that flies like field point so that it doesn't have to be retuned. 125gr broadhead, + HIT insert+BAR?
Colby - Sounds good, you've done a good job getting everything on that pack! One other option if you need some more room would be to add a dry sack that you can clip onto that pack. I picked up one of these for $11 for the recent hike with my wife, and just had her stuff her gear in it and fasten it to a pack frame: Outdoor Research Durable Dry Sack - 25L - Save 30% Was even able to put her sleeping bag into it first in the bottom. Do you plan on bivy camping out much that week?
