Well guys today is a my birthday and it's been great so far. My coworker who had that week of vacation, making my chances of going very slim, put his 2 weeks in. Needless to say I jumped on the week.

I will see you all in September!!!! You happy backstrap? Lol and Tony now you have to go.

Well - your message also motivated me yesterday. Read it after work and thought I usually run 3-4 miles but haven't done 5 in some time. Promised myself I would last night...well, got busy with family and sand volleyball...10:15 rolls around, and I knew I really wanted to, so headed out for a beautiful night run - 5 miles. Felt great, and a little sore today which is a good thing.

Sounds like a good birthday gift to me:) See you in camp!

Me too. Now the work begins! Luckily I sell pop and it makes me stay active and lift alot. Got alot of running to do still so my dog should be happy.

Also need to buy boots soon so I can break them in. Suggestions?

I tried on several boots just now and like the merrell moabs and keen targhee. Got more to try on but they were definitely comfortable. Anyone use these before?

I bought some Kenetrek mountain extremes the first of this year. They are pricey but should last me years. I've got over 50 miles on them now. They are really comfy so far, I hope they stay that way. Surely they will be the pair of UA boots I wore to CO last year. I'll never do that again.

I have a pair of Merrell Moabs. They are comfortable but have me doubting that they would be rugged enough for a mountain hunt? The keens I tried on were Gypsums. Very comfortable as well and seemed better quality. Take my opinion with a huge grain of salt, I've never hunted west of IL :)

I've never hunt outside of 4 counties in iowa so I have no idea either. Lol. Need to make a trip to des moines to try on a lot more. I tried on some Danners as well but seemed like the we're too tall for my liking.

Wish my town had more selection but will go try more on before I decide.

I have a pair of cabela's silent stalk sneakers and they are amazing. I've put over 200 miles on mine and am going to buy a new pair. They are only around $134

These ended up being my elk hunting shoes. :)

Boots feel like boards on my feet but I do have a pair of danner something-or-others that are pretty good. (they're the lightweight ones) Still kind of boardy feeling.

A good test when trying out boots is to find some uneven ground to walk on...any small slope such as roadside ditch...trying walking "sidehill" on it for some time both ways to see how your feet feel with good pressure on the sides. There have been days (especially the higher you get in altitude) it seems like I'm walking on side of my foot all day while hunting - feet are just screaming for a stretch of flat ground:)
