I have worn Meindl Burma Pro GTX for 8yrs worth of hiking, mountains walks and my last 3 Elk hunts and I see no reason to change, they are that comfortable.
I'll also try for a leftover Mulie tag.

I just purchased the Kenetrek Mountain Extremes a few months ago. Im in the process of breaking them in. So far so good. I love the ankle support they have. Last year I almost rolled my ankle several times with my UA boots. Thats all it took to find something better.

On another note if I dont fill my tag opening week ill be back out the 23rd. I may join you guys in camp for a few days.

I have a pair of Motorola radios I picked up used on ebay for about $30...we've also brought out some cheapo midland and Motorola's...as long as they are 2-way and multi-channel we have always been able to get everyone on same channel.

I had a time finding "hunting" boots to fit the way I wanted - so I started checking out backpacking/hiking boots. They have same structure, just not paying for a hunting brand or camo. Both of my pair are Asolo, 4 yrs on first pair and still doing great. They have Vibram soles, rigid insole for support and great supportive leather uppers.
Go to an REI or backpacker store if you have access - they can help a lot. Also - make sure to check out Sierra Trading Post - Great Deals. Great Brands.. as they have great deals (and you can always get 30-35% off by signing up on email list)

Sweet - hope you fill your tag the first go around - but pretty slick if you can pull off two trips in one season!

As for me - the wife gave me my off season motivation - I have to remodel our small masterbath...Which requires moving a wall out to turn shower into a tub. I redid our kitchen by myself couple years back...but this whole moving a wall is new. If I get on here late at night cussing...that's why:)

Have fun with that Matt. I'm strictly demolition. If it doesn't have four legs and a tail its out of my knowledge base

Ive got the funds and vacation this year. An that 601 dollar tag sandwhich isn't very good.

I'd be ok if I had a repeat of last year. 15 minutes into opening day an my tag filled.

I can't believe the price of out of state tags. Its crazy high I feel bad you guys have to drop that much coin to torture your selves for a week. There must be a cheaper way. :lmao:

Colorado used to be really nice until we got all the Californians. Then they try to change all our laws and make it a state to not be as proud of. Legalizing marijuna, mag capacity on firearms, etc.

Hopefully by the end of this year he will be gone. I know my dad is ready for someone new in there.

I hope the rest of the nation follows suit on the marijuana legalization, but agree the gun restrictions and overall extremely liberal atmosphere are crap.

IMO Colorado still offers the most diverse landscapes, activities, and hunting of any state in our country besides Alaska. I'd LOVE to end up in Colorado but don't see it as a possibility really unless things change career wise for me

That's what I thought. No biggie. Just wanted to know so if I make it I don't show up with just lighted nocks. Thanks.

We appreciate your empathy haha.......my wife and I were appalled that it costs more for the tag than it does for the gas to get there from NY.....but hey.....I'll pay to play and I look forward to the torture and some of the most beautiful country on earth....i may have no clue what im doing but im coming hard...boots to the ground!

I agree - it's pricey, but I keep paying it:)

CO might even be the "cheapest" place for NR to hunt elk...sadly.
It's just as bad here in IL...for a NR to bowhunt whitetails will run you about $468...that's crazy...and corn fields aren't nearly as breathtaking as the Rockies!
