I like your attitude. I got a a facebook message from Kevin and he said he is planning on being in camp the last couple days. This guy is the best elk caller I have ever heard. Justin may or may not be attending depending on how his moose hunting plans pan out. Will called me Sunday and we both agree this is looking to be a great camp this year. I hope we have good moisture and the elk heards do well.

Sorry been slacking on the count down!!! Glad someone picked my slack up!!! It's slowly and I mean slowly getting closer to September!!! At least I'll have turkey season here in a couple weeks to pass a couple of months!!! I'm pumped to meet everyone and to enjoy elk hunting for the first time!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just got my calls in the mail and now its time to make some ears bleed. What kind of fishing lures should I throw in just in case, probably wont have time because I am applying for my mule deer tag when I am done writing this, I just had to go back and look at the right application code.
Time does seem to creep this time of year Anthony. Frog congrats on the calls have fun learning to use them. As far a lures go anything that trout like would work. Would be nice to fry up some fish one evening.
Well, after talking to 2 different people in the Colorado parks and wildlife system it turns out I had to use my drivers license number, there is a lot to learn about applying out of state for the first time. So if any other newbies from MN are going, there is the answer to the mule deer application question.
Sorry I didnt see this earlier man my apologies. Yes put in your drivers license number Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Here's one way I like to keep an eye on the conditions around Elk camp - go this webcam: Vail, Colorado web cam! The high peak in the back right is Mount of Holy Cross...Camp would be on the next farthest hillside, just a little ways off the screen to the left...Highway 24 runs in the valley between this cam and Mt Holy Cross...
For those with iPhones and like to obsess on your next trips... Get the Countdown+ App. I've got all of my fall hunts in there and check it atleast once a week haha
Trevor, That's a pretty dang sweet fall you have coming up!!! I couldn't look at that app too often for fear of wasting my whole day in daydreams...I'm looking forward to your trip reports!
kinda off subject but my new MAC BOOK PRO AND IPAD MINI came in today!!!! Now i can start editing my future hunts!!! Pretty PUMPED!!!
Friendly reminder - you have one week to submit for a Muley or Bear tag if you'd like...apps due by April 1st. This is also the deadline to apply for any preference points in CO for all species. If doing Elk only - no worries - you can just buy them Over The Counter when you roll into town...
So jealous after reading through the thread. the mountains look breath taking, and by breath taking i mean beautiful and they will kick your butt. this looks like a great time and oppurtunity to hunt out west. this type of hunt is something i dream of and want/need to do while i am younger and somewhat able to do. i hope all of you going have great time and there are plenty of chances to accomplish filling some tags. i will be keeping an eye on this thread and enjoy.
when do they do the drawing? i got my app in for the deer tag but don't remember seeing if they said when they draw them.
License in the mail and posted online by May 30th. If not successful in draw, refunds are mailed back - different dates for each species.
