Happy for you guys. Got a few day hunts in thus far. Hike in for a 3 day Bivy hunt tomorrow morning 430 am sharp. Bad weather blowing in over the weekend so hope Friday is productive. Will be glassing for deer/elk by day and border hopping to Idaho to get some bear bait sits in by evening next week. Wyoming rifle antelope next weekend. More elk/deer the following week. Then the real world starts back up. Not ready for work days again.
Welcome to Huck's elk camp soldier, have fun ! I was at Ft Carson in 1970-71 after Viet Nam. Good duty and fun loving wild women in Pueblo. : ) I hope you find a nice bull and Welcome Home soldier.
Cowboy Colby Hey buddy... what is happening in your part of Huck's elk mountains ? Looking for a mug shot with your elk ! Git er done son ! Ashley needs some elk burgers ! : )
Had a great week. Met some great guys, got to hang out with some old friends and hunt elk in some awesome country. We saw 5 elk total one a bull that answered a cow call about a hundred and fifty yards from us. He came into eighty yards then took off. Don't know if he saw us or didn't like when my buddy bugled. Ill do a day by day write up when I get time and add the pictures. Matt got a great elk quite a few deer were taken and Greg's was really nice ill jet him tell the story and what he scored Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Cowboy Colby Thanks for the reply and photos. Too bad on the bull coming in to you and then departing. We will have to get you a Montana cow decoy. : ) Glad you are having a great time with Huck and new and old friends in elk camp. This is such a great opportunity to meet and enjoy new folks and hunt elk in Colo with great people. I need to take hold of this opportunity and not let it slip by me anymore. : ) HH in Pa ps: Happy 1st Anniv to you and Ashley.
Nice meeting everyone, despite the cold and unfilled tag it was a great time. Thanks Will for hosting us and everyone else who helped make this a great event including the people from Australia and England who no one could understand, they made some great moose stew. On my way home, see all of you someday soon.
Some pics of the nasty thunder/lightning that headed our way last night. Couldn't catch a lightning bolt on camera = /
don't quite remember where these two pictures are from 11800 feet in elevation at another place. The rocky mountains! can't imagine if there had been snow.
Made it home safe after a good 14 hour drive. Had a blast out there and can't wait to go back. I only saw 1 elk the entire week and it was my last hunt but that's how it goes. It was a pleasure meeting everyone that made it out. If anyone wants a good deer guide call up Driven with Pat and Christine. Lol. By far the best time I had in camp was the day I took off from hunting and hung out with Dave (Bails) and Aussie Troy. I don't think I have have ever laughed so hard in my life. Stand up guys! Can't wait to share camp with you guys again. I saw more moose than I did elk and even had a cow and calf at less than 20 yards. Those things are huge! I want to thank Will and everyone else who made this experience possible for me. I've already told the wife that a trip to Australia is in my near future! Lol. Thanks for making my addiction this much more expensive Will! Can't wait to sit around a fire and listen to more of your stories.
Awesome pictures fellas. It makes me sick thinking about not being able to make it. The scenery alone is worth the price of admission. Matt, c'mon already with the details of your bull!!! Haha.
