Oh gezzz Colb, now someone's gonna make me prove the pea theory. Blast you man! All the additional practice is going to destroy my summer!
I just got the week off of work and a new cot so I am in, all I have to do is apply for my mule deer tag. WhooHoo
Good to hear time will slow down and it will start to get exciting Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Vid #3 - 2013 elk (again, just cell phone video so not best quality)...you can hear how exhausted I was from just being bent over and skinning the bull...I had to resharpen my knife multiple times while skinning and deboning that thing...
I can't ever see your vids bz....just shows as a picture for me....I'll have to try on my laptop and see if that makes a difference Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
they are photobucket links. i think in tapatalk if you click on it, it asks you what you want to do. if you follow link i think it will work.
Anyone else having problems viewing them? I'm just copying the IMG code from photobucket...is there a better way? I do know I've enjoyed having the videos and plan to do some more on future hunts...I actually use my cell phone for all family videos and no longer use video cam. Quality is good enough and I always have phone on me - plus very easy to just copy/paste all my vids every few months and copy to a DVD to save for family viewing.
No problems viewing from my computer. From Tapatalk click the follow link not the view in gallery and it should work. I didn't try it as I don't have the photo bucket app downloaded. Thanks for posting the video's Matt I need to watch the deboning one a thousand times or hope your close if I ever shoot one. I have never deboned anything but need to learn so it makes it much lighter. It will be interesting if I ever get a bear too because I have never skinned or packed out a bear.
Colby - it sure helped that I was along with Justin and my buddy Matt to debone theirs. It's not going to be pretty the first time, but just like anything - it gets better and easier with each one. I'll never forget the size of the pieces of meat I was getting off that thing...it's laughable the size of that backstrap compared to a whitetail. ...if I can get to you - I'll gladly assist with yours! I've got Elk roast, potatoes and carrots in the crock pot for tonight
I have packed out 7 elk in my life sadly none that I have shot or that we deboned. The first one we just halved and that was the dumbest thing ever. Those hind quarters get very heavy walking up a moutain out of a meadow at 2 am. And sadly I can't wait to do it again. The hind quarters I can debone pretty well (after finding the ball joint) and actually have done it on a deer the front is what I have problems with. I can't wait for this season to get here. It seems so far off but should go pretty fast as I have a Mexico trip planned as well as putting on some ranch rodeo's.
You'll know pretty quickly whether or not you like Elk hunting when packing meat off a mountain I can't wait for the pain again either! There's something about strapping bloody meat to your back...in the dark...in bear & mountain lion country...that makes you feel alive!
4th and final vid - 2013 elk This is a quick tour around camp before we started packing up. 2013 was Will's "off" year, so our setup is actually my buddies (also Matt)...this setup is a fraction of the size of Will's Wall Tent Hilton. It's so pretty in this country that I would be at peace to just tend the fire for the whole week
