You guys miss the rain? We got about half inch of rain Monday so I cant imagine what the lakes around here are like. Cousin is pulling the permanent to Minnewaska tonight but I have Christmas tomorrow and a birthday party for our other cousin Sunday so I'll be staying home.

We didn't get much, if any rain. Mostly snow.

I will be trying to fill the archery tag the next 2 weekends so I won't be out until next year.

I can't wait to do some ice fishing. I live in central BC and the lakes aren't frozen yet and there is no snow...?? It's crazy

Usually I'm ice fishing by the end of October. It's rarely been below 0 in my area. It did snow about an inch, that's it, it all melted again. Usually around this time of the year everything is cover by 2 feet of snow. It's never been this warm here before.

Santa ended up getting me a custom made cherry wood medium light ice fishing rod.

Anyone have a recommendation on a nice reel? Looking to spend more than normal since this is a special/custom rod.

Don't mean to triple post, but this thread is dead!

Just ordered this reel - Think it will work well for the medium light rod.

I've been tracking this thread since it started. You are right, the activity has slowed quite a bit. It made me jealous I couldn't get out as early as you folks in MN did. Too much going on I guess. I hope to get out this afternoon and set up the house for at least a few days. I'll be setting up in last years hotspot for walleyes and hope it is hot again this year. Tomorrow my wife and I will be on the lake before first light and hope for the morning bite to produce. By 10:00 we should be off chasing perch. I hope I can add a pic or two to the thread and maybe reactivate it a bit.

Good luck on the hard water!!

Finally getting some cold weather to make some Ice and firm up some ice that was starting to look bad from all the rain we had. I have been hearing reports of eyes and perch getting caught off of lake Winnebago. I guess they have been driving on Shawano lake.

Its getting closer for me. Going to bow hunt this weekend yet for the last time then ice fish.

With all the rain/heat/wind we got a little while back, it opened up most if not all lakes around here so I haven't been out. No desire to drive north lately.

Only a few lakes in MI right now that I would venture out onto. Hoping some of these local spots freeze with this weeks cold weather so I can go after my first challenge of 2015, 14"+ Crappie before February !

I set our house out this afternoon. Drilled a bunch of holes. Had solid 18" of ice everywhere. Could drive anywhere we wanted if it wasn't for pressure ridges everywhere. Hope to be on the walleyes in the AM.

Got out this morning for 4 hours. Came home with two walleyes and a 30" snot rocket. My wife caught
A nice walleye at 18" while I caught the northern and the dinky eye. Got back out for the evening bite but only caught some throwback eyes. Still a great time. It's good hitting the hard water again. Should get out again this weekend.

    What's a "snot rocket"?

We're finally getting some cold temps in central NH and I expect the smaller waters to have fishable ice by the end of the weekend. The larger lakes are still a ways out from freezing. We had temps near 50 degrees during Christmas which has pushed everything back.

I'm getting itchy to cut a hole in the ice and go after some Lakers and panfish

I'm guessing it is a pike?

Hoping to get out this weekend!

Good ice making weather!! Wednesdays wind chills will be -35 to -45 here in Foley. We hit -35 last night.

Have trips planned to long lake next weekend and leech lake the weekend after.

Anyone in MN heading to the Brainerd Jaycees ice fishing contest on Gull lake?
