You are seeing this correct this 2013red40 has the old style info strip! :woot: (from the latest shipment that came in, not sure how you could tell what retailers have what)

I was trying to go "all black flash" as my findings with my old red flash moultrie m80s(sold one and someone stole the other) is that 8/10 pictures the deer were looking at the camera and getting spooked.

I was flipping through my friends 2012 red40 pictures and had to go through them again as I noticed just a few deer noticed the IR flash(400 pictures/2 week soak). No pictures of deer high tailing it out there. He commented on that also and he has 2 red flash m80's.

So I been for a while hesitant to get a red40 due to spooking.(I know it will spook some deer yes, but just stating my findings on this red40 vs 6 years of running IR cameras and looking at thousands of IR camera night time pictures on these forums.)

Had a chance to get a 2013red40 so I jumped on it. I wanted a camera in my arsenal to "light up the night :ninja: ". And I found this red40 does so. A few deer by me noticed it, but really I didnt get any running to the next county like I WAS used to.
These pictures are with all the leds "on". I still have alot of messing around with finding this cameras sweet spot so to speak as I only had out a couple of days.

    Deer is at ~60 feet:

Deer bedded down basking in the warm glow probably :)

I moved the camera up a foot higher to about 4 feet. I have to mess around with it more and put it on my Stic N Pic stand for better adjustments then a bunch of twigs jammed under the camera..... This deer is at ~50 feet out.

I use mostly homebrews, which as you know are all white-flash. I have never noticed any deer freaking out from them. The only thing I've actually seen deer freak out over is having the camera in the video mode where the flash is activated for a longer period of time. And even then, it's only some deer. Most of them just look at it and then go on about their business.

    Blessings..........Pastorjim

They're characters just like all of us. Some will freak over a caterpillar they catch out of the corner of their eye while others come blubbering up to the food plot while you're MOWING IT! :) Some love IR, some hate it...as for quality the Red40 does rock!

I agree each deer is different. I just noticed after years and years with IR cams and looking at everyones pictures online/friends, it seems like the deer dont get "as" spooked out with the coverts IR flash then lets say Moultries. Just keep in mind when people post moultrie pictures, majority of the deer are looking at the IR flash.

(Not turning this into a camera vs camera, IR does spook deer and sometimes it doesnt, just stating my personal thoughts)

Nice! So what is the big deal on the info strip? (probably a novice question)

the old strip was just yellow lettering. It was ok, but really hard to read. I didnt care for it.

Covert made some changes to the video mode deal(I think it doesnt take a picture then video like it used to) and the info strip.
