I know this forum and websites mainly Mathews related and as much as I would love to own one I cant afford one, but I have done a lot of reading and as far as midline bows go the PSE Brute x is rated toward the top for price and performance. opinions?

I've never shot it but I do shoot a mission ballistic. It is made by Mathews. I paid 479 bare bow for mine and love it. Imo it feels just like the mathews chill with a different riser because it is. Also look at hoyt and bears midpriced bows. You will be surprised by the bow you may end up with.

I shot a PSE Brute X the last couple years before upgrading to Creed XS, for the money I don't think you can get a better bow. I put it through it paces and it never let me down, the worst thing about it is the cheap strings and cables PSE puts on them, but after I upgraded those, it could shoot with the big boys. I kept a whisker biscuit and peep on her and made the Brute my backup bow.

Yeah I have a PSE and can attest to the strings being pretty poor quality. I waited about a year and upgraded. My bow got quiter and I noticed more consistency.

That puzzles me. Why would a company put poor quality anything on a new bow they are selling to people? I know it happens, just seems strange to me.

I shoot the brute x at 60 pounds with 350 grain arrows and killed 4 deer this past year with no problems. It performs as good as many proline bows and is very durable. To be honest I treat it like **** and throw it around and be rough with it and no scratches or marks. Definitely worth the money.
