Hey everyone I am new to this forum. Figured I would post a story and picture of my deer from this year! Opening night here in North Dakota was August 30th and the high was around 87 that day! Not usually a good day to be out deer hunting....wrong! Two years ago I had a buck on my trail camera on opening night when it was 90 degrees out, I ended up not going out to sit in the stand that night and regretted it after seeing the trail cam pictures. So this year I convinced myself that I would go sit in my stand on opening night even if it was a sweltering 87 degrees out. About an hour before sunset I watched a bachelor group of about 5 bucks get up and make their way down a fence line on a CRP field that I hunt. Watching these bucks from 800 yards away slowly making their way toward me got me even more worked up! With about 20 minutes left of shooting light this guy stepped in front of my tree stand at about 10 yards and the rest was history! This is my biggest buck to date with a bow, I was more concerned about preserving the velvet and getting him to my taxidermist right away that I never even scored him! I couldn't have asked for a better deer take this year!
Welcome to the site! That's a nice buck, congrats on him. You're a lucky man to live in ND. I visit there every fall to hunt ducks and love it up there.
