If you had won any of those "marginal" bowls Ill bet youd want em counted. And I never said Tressel was a middle of the pack coach. I said that if OSU played in the SEC while he coached, he would be middle of the pack. Actually probably more toward the bottom considering his record against the SEC.
The SEC has 4 good teams every year LSU Bama The other two are split between Florida, Georgia, SC and some other team that has a good year. OSU would be fine and I don't even like them.
Interesting stat: Since 2000 LSU, UF, UGA, and Auburn (in that order) all have more SEC wins than Alabama. That stat is prior to the 2012 season, so the top 3 likely didn't change. Auburn could have fallen out. I think it's funny how everyone forgets just how average (and sometimes terrible) Alabama was for a lone stretch of time. In 2000 they won 3 games. In 2001 they won 6. 4 in 2003, 6 in '04 and '06, and 7 in 2007. As a Florida fan, UF has won has many National Titles, been to more SEC championship games and won more SEC championship games and had more Heisman winners than Alabama since the inception of the SECCG. Right now, Alabama is as dominant as you can get in college football and, depending on what they do this year, will rival the dynasty of Nebraska in the mid 90s, but most people seem to forget very quickly that Alabama was very average, and often times quite terrible for a long time since the 2000s.
I do agree, but we are not allowed to talk about past in these thread, the guy from Indiana gets all fired up Every major program has a down period, but they don't last as long as other programs. Best winning % since 1904-2010 Yes the SEC is having a good run, but I have a feeling it ends in the next couple years. Dude, he's class of 2015.... that means he has 2 more golden opportunities to watch tOSU dominate our little sister! ....$5 says he jumps ship
I don't think any conference will "take over", I see Big Ten, Big 12 and the Pac winning a few NC the next 10 years. I believe will have more balance.
If I were an LSU fan I don't know how I'd take the media and most CFB fans' obsession with Alabama. I pulled the Most SEC Wins stat from an LSU board (quick google search led me there). LSU had I think 124 SEC wins and UF was second with 115. UGA had 114 and Auburn 110. Germ - Touché. Take my posts for what they're worth because I only keep up and quote stats that are post the inception of the SECCG because that's basically when I was born and Florida became nationally relevant.
You're on, because he is not going to play in a spread, he wants the ball, and does not want to watch the QB get all the glory. I have been down the road of the spread.
I don't think any of us can predict who will win the NC the next 5 years, it's hard to do it in the same year. USC was predicted last year I believe.
Oh no doubt LSU and Florida have been more consistent in the 2000s than Bama, but people don't remember that, they just know that Bama has won 3 of the last 4 MNCs. Kinda hard to ignore. I think (read: hope) that Bama will take a step back this year. I see 2 losses in their future, which would be a huge step back with their easy schedule.
For sure. College football and the media are perfect examples of the "what have you done for me lately" world we live in. Who do you think they'll lose to? I just checked out their schedule - it's incredibly soft. I see only LSU beating them. Maybe VA Tech in the opener, but I don't think Saban would lose an opener.
I don't know Hook... I see they're at A&M (I'd expect an L there), then host LSU later in the season (some potential, but home field is huge). And looking at the rest of the schedule, they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves! Who in the hell is Georgia State and Chattanooga Mocs? I've never heard of these teams
LSU and A&M. I just want A&M to beat them, be on top of the world, then crash the rest of the season. It would make me so very happy.
Something we agree on The rest of their schedule is pathetic. I'd be ashamed to say "roll tide" for any of those other games.
