Actually you are thinking of Ohio last year, they were not allowed to buy any tickets to ANY bowl game:lmao:

Bama loses 3 games this year and Saban's head will explode!!!!

UF will have a better team than last year but win less games. But not by much. I think they can win 9-10 including the bowl game. They have the toughest schedule in the country (UGA's is once again soft missing out on Alabama and LSU. Maybe it's because Richt is a woman and offers favors to SEC higher ups? Who knows.)

tOSU beats Alabama for the MNC because I like Urban Meyer more than Saban and because Urbs started the run of SEC dominance and will end it. Oh, the irony.

If any coach beats a SEC team NC game, it will be Meyer for the next few years.

I'd put IU up against any university in the land, school wise.

They went to the Rose Bowl back in '68. That has to count for something, seeing as how Michigan fans like to crow about the past.

Randle El, Anthony Thompson, Trent Greene, George Taliaferro, Adawale Ogunleye...those guys were pretty good in college and a couple went on to productive NFL careers. Taliaferro was a trailblazer.

I would think any B1G school ''matters.''

At least I realize IU is a middling team. Michigan fans continue to have delusions that they still matter on a national level. I guess you need to have something to hold onto when you root for a school like Michigan.

Once again, because I think it is just so doggone funny...

It's a thread on an internet message board in an off-topic section...that's just what happens.

Actually the Water Cooler is for non-hunting topics each thread is not a free for all. Topics are determined by the OP, who in the case asked about college football. The OP has also asked to keep it on football. You have the option to start a basketball thread if you'd like.

Well we have recruited pretty well on the national level. Check the rankings the last three years, and who is number one right now?

Michigan
LSU
Bama
tOSU
ND
Texas
USC

Schools that matter in football on a national level. There are more, but I view these schools as football schools.

It's July? :poke:

Come next February Michigan will be behind UF, LSU, Alabama, and tOSU.

I do like Brady Hoke though and like Michigan more than tOSU.

UGA vs LSU in Athens on Sept 28th. Make sure you know a schedule before you try to call it weak

No but schools who do well generally have poor recruiting classes:lmao:

It shows who can pull in the talent, recruiting glasses matter. It's why schools like Indiana cannot have good teams year in and year out, it's why Michigan had a really bad run 2008-2011, just not enough talent to compete. It's why schools like Ohio, Bama, and LSU are good year after year. Just keep thinking recruiting rankings don't matter. They do, from the recruit standpoint they matter even more. It's why Bama has been so successful since Saban has been coaching. Recruits see the best going to bama, so they want to go to bama, because they want to win. Why do you think Bama's fourth string RB would be starting at most big ten schools, but he still goes to bama.

Simple look at the talent level of Michigan in 2010 when RR left, we had 8 scholarship OL on the roster, 8. Today we have 16 and we are loaded with talent. Michigan will have the best Offensive tackles in the country this year.

So keep down playing recruiting rankings, well you're Indiana I understand:)

Cool, Michigan recruited a bunch of guys who were the biggest, strongest and fastest on their high school team. That doesn't always equate to success at the college level.

Maybe if Michigan gets on the same level as Bama, LSU or tOSU you can toot your horn, but Michigan is nothing more than a middling team on the college football landscape.

uh, well how about this one;

Ranking the Top 25 College Football Programs Over the Last 40 Years - Yahoo! Voices - voices.yahoo.com

or maybe this one;

Top College Football Programs of the AP Poll Era

or one of these;

BCS: How Much Is Your College-Football Team Worth? - WSJ.com

Top 20 Most Profitable College Football Programs - BeyondU Sports

That was a quick Google search. If you need to see more look em up yourself.

I was suprised to see LSU that high since they were pretty much every teams homecoming opponent till Saban got there. Like alot of other teams they do pretty well against most everybody but Bama these days.

Yes, I do. I was actually at the game.

Do you remember that its the game where yall suspended the cheaters but let em play in the bowl game? And even with that it took a stupid decision by our qb for yall to pull it out. But hey, yall did finally beat an SEC team so Id talk it up too.

Buckeye I went and looked at the official record book for that sugar bowl, I cannot find a thing. Maybe an Ohio player tattooed the score somewhere so we can see the score.

I'll take hard facts over subjective rankings anyday of the week

I'll just take this:

BCS Bowl Wins:

Wisconsin 2
Hogs 0

BCS Bowl Apperances:

Wisconsin 5
Hogs 1

Players drafted into the NFL all time:
Wisconsin 261
Hogs 255

Heisman Winners:

Wisconsin 2
Hogs 0

Not to mention that Wisconsin Madison is 1000000x the school Arkansas is.

I bet. Enjoy those lofty recruiting rankings. Everyone needs something to hang their hat on.
