My asked me to go on his dream hunt with him. I am the oldest of 3 sons, 2 of which wont be able to afford a trip. His dream hunt has been to travel to Canada to do a bear hunt. He asked me to go with. I dont know anything or anybody who has done it. The only info I have is by researching online for about a week, reading websites and reviews. So far we have taking a liking to a place called Flemming outfitters. They say they are in the northern end of Ontario. Most places I have read about say they take you to your stand the first time and you are responsible to get there the rest of the week, which may require 4-wheel drive and quads. 3 of us plan on driving together and dont have any access or desire to pull quads up there. This place advertises to escort you in and out daily and the off road vehicles arent required. The price isnt much higher than the rest and meals and bear recovery are included. We arent looking for 5 star accomadations. They also say fishing in the mornings is the norm and after lunch the bear hunt. This is right up my alley as I always wanted to do a fish trip. This is my fathers dream hunt so i dont really want to change much. My dream hunt will be a Wyoming elk bow hunt in a few years. I like the honesty and humble description on their website and cabin like setting. Any info or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. This would be a gun hunt as my father doesnt bow hunt.

Trailend Camp in Manitoba has some pretty good bear hunts, with a decent number of color phase bears. Guide will take you to your stand/blind by boat and you hunt alongside the Winnipeg River. Good meals and nice cabins... worth a look.

I'd almost suggest Maine they have some EXCELLENT bear hunting up there! There is also a great outfitter in the central Catskills with a great success rate! Some of the Quebec outfitters do pretty decent as well.

Northern Ontario is by far the best black bear hunting. But manitoba is good too.
