I should have taken a shot at 30 yards.... I rattled him back in and same thing high alert and wouldn't come in more then 35-40 this time what a rush though that was my first ever encounter with a buck

SR, you made the right call not shooting. Good patience.

Giving the waning rut one more try this afternoon. Wont be able to hunt again for a week. Feel good about the spot even though I just found it.

Didn't see a thing this morning while hunting but as soon as I was within 50 yards of my truck, there was a large doe eating in the turnip patch but she saw me just before I saw her and bolted. Then on the way out, I saw another mature doe walking a tree line in one of our cow pastures. So now I have a good idea of 2 places that I plan on setting up some stands and cameras in the near future!!

Changed properties. I'm not sure how long I'll be here. New property, not much sign. Trying something new a pop-up blind.

Back up a tree with the bow. A balmy 20 degrees with little to no wind. Trying the later than normal approach. Got settled in with 6 minutes to go, didn't bump anything that I'm aware of.

Good luck all who are out.

Cold and a little breezy here in north central Illinois. Tinks super drag stalked behind me on the way in, hoping to catch a cruiser

You'd think they'd be moving, but I haven't seen anything yet
