Kicking myself right now with the what ifs and if only's. Replaying everything I'm not sure what happened. Had a 4 point in the front right of me. He kept looking behind him and to the front of him. I was expecting another young buck to come out, then just happened to look to my left and seen the big 8 coming nose to the ground. I grabbed my bow and when I was clipping my release knocked the nock loose. Got it nocked back up, drew back, hit record and waited. I stopped focusing on him and kept the pin on his lung waiting for him to take two more steps. That's where I'm unsure what happened. 1 of 3 things. Where he was he was in line of sight with me behind a big branch, the 4 point to his front left across the drainage ditch and he was right on the edge of the trail cam. I set it to 25 second video last night so if its triggered might help tell what happened. Seen it spook a doe Halloween. Had I been seated there's a very good possibility I'd be on recovery mode, would have been below the limb. Not sure where the normal doe traffic is

Just played back the video, it was definitely the trail cam. Absolutely disgusted right now. Good thing I can't see it from stand, would probably launch an arrow into it. I'll pull the card and switch it back to camera mode. Unbelievable luck
moved up the mountain a bit....like 70 feet more elvqtion and into thicker cover. hoping to see less deer but the right buck

Called it a day. Have to fix my washer and pick up a couple prescriptions. Was going to do it tomorrow and not hunt, think I'll hit it again in the morning.
Parked the car at 6:00am... 6 deer in the field staring at me.. didn't know what to do so I waited a little then went in. Sure enough did not see another deer all morning. Sat until 930am. Perfect weather for deer movement here in IL.... 43 degrees and cloudy, winds out of north at 5mph... hopefully the evening sit will show me the first deer on hoof from the stand .. Haven't seen a deer all year!! ugh.
