This is my first hunt of the VA antlerless early urban archery season. As you can see by the picture I have a video camera this year. I haven't gotten any deer on video yet from the previous Kill Permit season so maybe today.
The weather is calling for rain tonight so I'm very hopeful. The property owner says he's been seeing deer frequently in his yard. New tree, new season, new camera, same bow. A Mathews Monster 6, Easton Epic 400 arrows, G5 Striker 100gr broadheads.
I put out 2 cameras. There is a big buck rub toward the middle/rear of the property. I'll stay away from that until buck season comes in.
    WISH ME LUCK!

Gonna be a good night, front moving in after dark. Two fresh rubs under me and acorns falling all around. All I need now is a blind retarded monster 10 pt to come strolling by.

First sit of the year here in Kansas. 62 degrees, wind out of the north at 18 mph, chance of storms this afternoon. Not perfect, but hopefully the wind will die down later on.

I'm sitting where I shot my buck 3 years ago, along a creek between a big bean field and a cedar thicket. I don't have my hopes real high, I just wanted to get out

Back in the stand. My son saw a slick head pop out about 40 yds from his stand and go back in the thick brush about 15 min ago.I Bagged a squirrel earlier today.

 not out here, I'm only planning on seeing some does, but I won't shoot any until Friday maybe. Tomorrow morning will be my shot at a buck over 150" that is coming through every morning at 6:30-6:45 :tu:

At 4:30 a big doe and 2 fawns came right behind me and under my stand. They never broke out from the brush to give me a shot. When I turned in my stand to try and wait them out I must have alerted them. The 3 of them got spooky and trotted back the way they came. I should have stayed seated and waited for them to pass by, I blew this one.

Thinking about heading to my stand. Its been windy all day. Its supposed to die down this afternoon. Thinking the deer may have been bedded all day due to the wind. Maybe they'll be up and about a little early this evening.

Nothing tonight. In fact, haven't seen much since season opened Saturday. Been hunting two different properties. I think they've been sitting tight. Things are supposed to pick up by this weekend acording to the "time to hunt" app. Anyone else using that app?
