Wind is very calm, 66 right now, hunting on the edge of a standing bean field. This definitely isn't one of the best spots I have to hunt, but it was the closest. And just to be in a tree means everything, good luck to those that are out, be safe
Dead Doe Down! Comments: At 5:00 pm a lone doe came walking in from my right rear. As she entered my shooting lane at 16 yards I stood and drew on her. Just as I got to full draw my drawing arm hit my harness tether. It took me by surprise and almost cost me a good shot. I was very unsure if I made a good shot and it was a long 1/2 hr wait. I got down and checked my arrow, it had good blood sign. It took me a good couple of yards to pick up the blood trail. The blood was good and I figured it was lethal. As I was tracking her I pushed out 2 other does that must have come from the opposite direction. At first I thought one might have been the one I shot and I considered backing out. With it beginning to rain and heavy rain imminent I thought I’d track just a bit further. I saw the 2 does again across the logging road and I thought let me see if one of them is bleeding. As I went to cross their path of travel there was my doe lying piled up at the top of the hill. She ran around 150 yards before giving up the ghost. I had a good hit behind the shoulder but for a quartering away shot it was a little too forward and exited the front chest. I mostly got one lung but it was enough. I was raining pretty good by then so I did not take the time to examine the entrails for damage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm in a spot I have never hunted. Saved it for this season. It's been raining all day. I have seen deer enter this field corner more times than I can count. Here this is easier than describing it:
Hell yea Congrats must feel so good its my first year hunting and so far haven't seen anything yet but there are plenty more days I'm going to learn a lot this year Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
I wouldn't trade sitting in the woods for anything, but 12 hours on a metal grated ladder stand and not a single deer is a bit tough to swallow. Quite a few acorns so not sure what to think.
20 yds broadside but I couldn't pull the trigger. I think he needs another year. Fml and right at 6 o'clock too
