Congrats, she'll eat good! 8 more days and I'll be out there. Had a few 30's in the morning if late, almost freezing today. Hard not to know its almost here. Can't wait!
Thanks. We waited an hour then tracked her. We were standing 10 feet from her and didn't even see her. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
The arrow was very low. In the white near the bottom of her belly Sent from my Milestone X2 using Tapatalk 2
MichiganYoungBlood, I feel for you. I can't say how many times I laid awake at night thinking about finding that deer. I personally have made some bad shots (not saying you made a bad shot) but I have and the sick feeling sucks! If you got to work tomorrow, call in sick and go look. You will feel better. You're not going to get that amount of blood from a non lethal hit. Muscle/guts it will not have that type of blood coating. Tht deer is dead, I can promise you that. Post that arrow picture in the now hunting forum and I guarantee everyone says the same thing. For an arrow to be in the deer for a fraction of a second and have that blood coating to it, you didn't hit a non-vital area. that deer is dead, don't give up on an evening search. Edited to add, this isn't a preaching post on what to do. After the shot you have 3 things to go by. 1st is shot impact, 2nd is reading the arrow and 3rd is blood trail. I can't see the blood trail and don't know the shot impact, but thy arrow screams a good kill shot. I don't think anyone can argue that
Goin by just the arrow I'd say its a dead deer but that's just my opinion take it as you like. Sent from iPhone
What an evening hunt!! As I am getting out of my stand to call it an evening, about 40 yds away is a well fed six point mulley (gotta love WHT & MD country). He is the biggest buck I have seen in the stand this fall. He did not see me, and I am out of my stand, so I set up for some spot and stock. Only problem was, he stood grazing on the neighbors alfalfa field (absolutely no hunting, barely got permission to walk on it to get to my stand). I found a small ground bush to set up behind to give me some cover and I wait. He makes his way toward me until he gets about 25yds away (still on the wrong side of the fence), and he stales there. After about 5 minutes of waiting and darkness fast approaching (I was no longer comfortable taking a shot more than 10yds with the amount of light) he moves back out to 40yds in the alfalfa field. Game over, so I stand up and less than ten yard behind me, and walking towards me are three more mulley does. Ha, I was standing between a nice mulley buck and three does, none of which saw me. I spooked everything when I stood up, but whata way to end an evening, from the tree stand to spot and stalk, love it!!! The middle tree/bush in the middle is where I spotted him, and the green grass bush underneath is where I set up my stalk, good times
You get a chance to go back today? I know the feeling, I lost my first deer last week. Keep your head up! Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
I'm in and settled. Just a matter of time now. I'm sitting in a small oak grove that is dropping as I type. Im at the top of a hill where 2 fingers come together. i have 5 trails within 20yd Fresh sign all over on my way in. I had to move trees to better suit the wind but, it is in my favor big time. With a little luck and help from the big guy, I should have a deer down in the next few hours! Good luck to anyone else hanging out 16'+ up.
Good luck to you boys, driving back from work, about an hour drive, so entertain the hell out of me! Please! I can't hunt until the 1st.
The woods here are starting to come alive! Raccoons, squirrels and I just heard turkeys. No deer yet but, it's still 1.5 to go!
