Quick bowhunt for Elk planned this year in Sept...probably only 5 or 6 days of hunting though. GMU 45 in Colorado...this is my third consecutive year to go - 3rd time should be the charm. My only goal is to be able to phone my wife from mountain and tell her to order this shirt for me: http://www.cameronhanes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/i-eat-elk.jpg I'm in best shape of my life, and shooting better than ever...it's up to me to get on the Elk. I leave for Colorado August 23 and will hunt from August 25 through Septemeber 3rd...if needed I'm well before the rut this year but will also be hunting unpressured animals, so hopefully the trade pays off. I also have a mule deeer tag in pocket. After this brutalluy hot and dry summer in Minnesota, I cant wait for some cool mountain air.
Hope I'm helping you clean your Elk Matt, unless it's my Elk Looking forward to hunting unit 45 myself and learning the ropes. I won't be in the best shape of my life but I'll be better than I have in many years. I fly into Vale on the Sept. 14th and leave on the 21st with cooler in hand I hope.
