New for 2011 the Cuddeback Attack will be available for those who might be looking for a new cam. Not sure of the release date or price. http://www.eyesinthewoods.com/play.php?vid=913
Looks interesting. Don't know about the mounting system though, would have to try it. Also claims 50,000 images for the IR and 10,000 for the flash model on a set of batteries. (4D) That seems to be a bit high of an estimate, to me. I also didn't like the fact that they said it would lose all settings when the batteries are changed. That's one thing I really like about my Coverts and the 8AA batteries. Replace 4 and then replace the other 4 and it doesn't lose any settings. Cuddeback has lost me as a customer after the epic failure of most of the Captures we have bought from them. I'll have to wait and read the reviews on this one before I try it myself.
wow..........that info is very questionable considering right now you are lucky to get 2000 pictures on a set of batteries with a Capture IR. The reviews will be interesting...... Ya know the two Cuddeback's I have owned took good clear pictures. The problems always revolved around batterylife and customer service. Having problems with any camera is understandable when you consider the elements they have to stand up too but when I send a camera in for servicing I don't want the manufacturer waiting with an open hand for more money and that is exactly what Cuddeback does.
Interesting. Cuddeback has burned me good with their **** customer service as I was a very loyal customer at one time. I always told myself I'd never buy another cuddeback unless they came out with something awesome. Still waiting on the "awesome". dbl lung, I agree with you on the day pictures. To me there Isn't a camera with a better color picture out there. Outstanding day pictures from all of my No Flash Cudde's (when they work).
I'm interested to see how these cameras perform in the field. I played with them at the ATA and wasn't all that impressed. The mounting system IMO isn't that great, and I don't like the fact that they're still using D cell batteries when the rest of the world has converted to AA. They claim the battery life is much improved, but only time will tell.
It can't be any worse than is is now, can it? I LOVED how you could screw the cam into the tree from the inside on the Excite. At least that way they had to break the camera to steal it. With the Capture, all you have to do is release the buckle and take it. Ridiculous!
Until Cuddeback gets a new customer service crew, I will never buy another one of there cameras no matter how good it is. Having to return 3 replacement cameras in a month is not acceptable to me and then I get told that I have to pay for them to fix the 4th camera they sent me. They can burn in HE**!!!!
While there are so many good quality cameras on the market today I think I can still say the more you pay the better you are. I am a Reconyx guy but also own a Moultrie. Anymore with cameras like Buckeye Cam on the market and then considering the headaches that are had with cheaper or over-advertised cameras I really don't think you can go wrong with spending the extra money for a Reconyx.
Hmmm, bad battery life, exagerated battery life claims, settings reset everytime you change the batteries, poor mounting system, still using d cells, poor customer service, and probably still all the same sensing issues (centered subject technology.) Yeah, I can wait. Sorry everyone, just had bad experiences with Cudde. My advice; spend more money on your product and a little less on celebrity endorsements. Blessings.....Pastorjim
Maybe the company will offer even larger rebates on there cams that have the highest return percentages ... Oh Wait they tried that. As people read forms like this, and as buyer's look to the web for cam reviews before they buy a product the market itself will force these guys to fix there cams and service problems or they will be out of business. I myself had one of the cams mention in lay away for x-mas and with all the bad reviews i traded the cam for another brand all together.
