    Cuddeback Attack Flash

Cabelas has the Cuddeback Attack with flash now as well. It's the same price as the IR version.

I read the entire review from chasingame and to me it's just looks like more of the same crap coming from Cudde. A bunch of hype and slick advertising with lots of celebs but very little substance to their product. It just seems so simple to me. Spend a little less on celebrity endorsements and a little more on your product. Yes there have been some improvements but the major issues have not been addressed. They are so close to having a really great product with just a few changes but instead they try to cover up the weak areas with slogans like centered subject technology. Also, it appears from the review that they have done nothing to improve their already woeful customer service. As a matter of fact, they have done something with their warranty that will be sure to tick off any potential buyer, basing your warranty on the amount of time the camera is turned on. Another load of bovine fertilizer.
Cudde, if your listening, this is what you need to do to really improve your product.

    a. Increase the sensing area. I don't care how fast a camera is, it can't take a picture of what it can't see.

    b. Decrease your delay time between pics. Yeah I know you went from 30sec to 15sec but it could be better. Reconyx has no delay so the technology is out there.

    c. Improve your customer service by adding a toll free number and offering a warranty that actually is a warranty. A solid warranty says to the customer; "this company believes in the product they are selling."

    Rant over!

    Blessings......Pastorjim

PastorJim, if you read the updates on chasingame, the warranty is suppose to change soon. They are suppose to also be adding firmware updates where you can change settings. A cuddeback worker talked to us on the chasingame forum about what changes are suppose to be happening soon.

Heres what he said. (Sorry it's so long)

"Hi. I am a representative and employed by Cuddeback. I am here to answer a few of your recent questions. However, I do not plan on posting to or monitoring this forum on a regular basis so I recommend that you email me at [email protected] for any additional questions you have.

First, our new website will go live within a week or two. It will have brochures, manuals and more facts about the Attack and its advanced technology. We are also adding a product registration page. Customers who register our cameras online will receive a free extended warranty that extends the warranty period to a full 18 months. In addition, over the next few months, we will be adding technology briefs to our website. We understand there is a lot of discussion and debate on narrow-view versus wide-view PIR sensors, so this will be the first subject covered in a brief. We think you will find it interesting.

Attack is a cutting edge product unlike anything else we have ever made. Mark & his engineering staff have been using Attack models for over 12 months and have taken tens of thousands of images with them. During this time the number of blank (no animal) images has been less than 1%. This is an attribute to Attack's extremely fast trigger speed. We think customers prefer scouting cameras that record images of all deer/animals that pass in front of the camera, not just some of them, or the slow moving ones. That is why we do not import Chinese designed cameras with slow trigger speed, but design our products with our own employees in America.

Attack takes a 30 second video after taking an image. The time between the image and video is about 1 second. We choose a 30 second video because after analyzing our video contest, that was the setting that the majority of our customers used. When Attack is set to a 15 second or 30 second delay, after the 30 second video is completed, Attack will be ready for the next activity within 1 or 2 seconds (this will be implemented in a firmware updated that will be avalable on our website in July).

Attack records 5 MP images and does not have an option to change the pixel count. The reason is simple - why would you want lower quality images? That would be like buying a gun with an accuracy setting.

We are also willing to let you know what we are working on. The Attack firmware is easily changed by the user, so for those customers that want different delays than the default 15 seconds to 30 minutes, we will be releasing firmware options this summer that will allow users to set delays less than 15 seconds or longer than 30 minutes. In addition, we are working on a time lapse only firmware update that will allow you to tailor Attack to specific time-lapse applications. These optional firmware updates will be a free download from our website and should be available in July or August. And once installed into Attack, a firmware update can be uninstalled reverting the camera to the default operation; or you can choose to install a different firmware choice. Please feel free to let us know what you want and we will try to accomodate (no promises although).

Over the past years, Cuddeback has continued to grow and increase sales. In fact, the company is 5 times bigger today than it was 5 or 6 years ago. We want to thank all our customers for your support. Again, if you have any additional comments or questions please email email me at [email protected] "

I just sold my 4 Cuddeback Captures due to missing pictures after hanging the Cuddeback next to a DLC Covert 8.0 HR I found out just how much I was missing with the Cuddeback.

I have used Cuddeback for years but finally gave up

Poor battery life no matter what the adds say

When the low battery indicator came on it was too late

Being able to format SD cards on the camera would have been a nice addition also

I will admit they do take awesome pictures

I have 1 Covert HR 8.0 and am in the process of getting 4 more

Great photos ! Awesome battery life ! Unreal range for motion detection !
Takes 8 AA batteries I have over 8000 pictures and over 1000 30 seconds videos and still have 3/4 battery left. No complaints so far :D

It certainly does not sound good for Cuddeback as Chasingame states there are very few people who have chosen to check out the reviews of the new attack. Quite possibly more customers than Cuddeback thinks think badly of their product. There are a lot of cameras out there which you do not have to spend $200 for which take great pictures, have great battery life and good customer service after the sale. These are three things Cuddeback has never had and will have a great deal of work ahead of them to get customers back. Charging $250 for a camera which does not get the greatest of reviews is not the way to do it. I will continue to purchase the more expensive Reconyx cameras because of the features they offer, great battery life and their unwillingness to leave a customer dis-satisfied.
