Congratulations to both of you thats awesome. Great story and thats what keeps you coming back. Glad you enjoyed my home state of Colorado. Man you guys make a 28 hour drive to hunt Elk, I live here and complain about the 8 hour drive I have to take to hunt them makes me more appreciative for whats here at home.

Overall I prefer the Kuiu better due to fit and the fact it takes less room in the pack to carry the different layers. I used the Kuiu 3000 pack and that by far is one of the best buys I have made in a long time. The rain gear was put to the test for sure with no failures what so ever. Plus with the temps in the mid 30's and damp, I was warm.

Here is the list of what I had to usefor a week...

Kuiu 3000 pack w/ Carbon Frame
    Kuiu Chugach Jacket & Pant
Kuiu Guide Jacket & Attack Pant
    Kuiu Spindrift Jacket
    Kuiu Merino 185 Zip T & Bottom

Thanks for the reply. I have been a die-hard Sitka guy for a while. To me, they both boil down to about the same in the end, beings I get special incentives from Sitka:rock: I am looking at a set of the KUIU rain gear, however.

Did you pack any meat with your ICON? I switched the Sitka packs this year after getting fed up with Badlands. Trouble is finding a lightweight pack that can still handle a full load of meat....the carbon frame has me intrigued.

Wonderful story Rob and congrats to you both! Can't wait to someday get out west and try for myself. Hoping next year but probably won't be for 2-3 years! Loved the cabin you stayed in!

As you may know, I sold the Sitka Gear for sometime. I have nothing against the Sitka, but the Kuiu concept had me interested. Sitka has some great garments, but have to say for my trips Kuiu will be what I pack.

I to, have been a Badlands lover and also had some Sitka packs the past couple years. The Icon is, by far, (IMO) the best pack I have used. I loaded it heavy before and during the trip, the way it distributes the weight is second to none.

A running joke between Rob and myself is how many times he packs and unpacks and packs again before heading out.

Well Rob....Looks like you forgot your good camera, even after I told you to take lots of pics. I'll have to go with you guys for the filming of everything. I guess.

    Packing is my speciality......and unpacking.

I actually did have the good camera with me at camp, but due to all the rain was in the habit of not wanting to get it ruined. Which ended up not being available when I wanted it...

Congrats. Are you hunting in Montrose? Isn' that all private land, I think that is where my son hunts? I have gone to Plains MT and drew last year, not this year.
