Nothing huge as of yet but one really cool tall browtined buck I have never seen before, and a couple really nice 3.5 year olds 5x5s as well. Oh a really nice 4.5 or older 5x5 too..a buck that I have on cam from last year as a 4x5 and I guessed him at 3.5 last season. His browtines are a dead give away its him, hes just growing both g-4s this year...also lots of moose, elk, does and bears as well. I had some really cool pix of a droptined bull but the glass on my cudde broke and they were all fogged up.. I fixed the glass..its back out i hope I get some clear pix of that bull...The bucks in my pix, especially the older bucks that know the scrapes are checking it almost everytime they come through. Hitting the licking branch that is. Almost all daylight pix, they cameras are deep in the timber near bedding areas where the bucks feel comfortable filtering around during the daytime.

I've got a couple that have sparked my interest. Especially the big guy that has some nontypical stuff going on. Unless This is the first year he has done this, I don't think I have seen him before.

After last year I'm not making any predictions, but I'm hoping for the best.

Well, the neighbor 2 doors down has 3 apple trees LOADED this year. They don't drop to later on. The early dropping tree didn't fruit this year so I've yet to see a deer in my yard, but I am hoping once these start falling, the deer will come. Last year by this time the deer had been nightly visitors for almost a month.

Nice Ryan, I know you were hoping to have a good attractor close to home, hope those trees help ya out.. can you hunt travel routes to and from where your neighbor is? On another note, the new area I hit today in Clarkia was sadly littered with elk sign everywhere and not as much big buck sign..oh wait.. thats a good thing! I really got into some awesome country today, set up a scrape/mineral lick and cam... probably gonna be more elk in there than anything..

That's a great looking buck John. Hopefully he finds your arrow this fall. Any news on the Big Ten that has haunted you the last 2 years?

    Troy,
Yes & no, regarding travel lanes to the apple trees. If they bed to the east, no, But if they bed to the west, yes. Last year was about 60/40 that they bedded west. However by the time the season rolls around acorns will hopefully come into play & I will catch the deer feeding/staging in the woods, before heading to hit the apples after dark.

ok, I am going to start cycling through my areas and checking cams starting today and should have them all checked by mid next week (due to traveling), got a couple nice looking 3.5 year olds ( my age guestimate, the night time buck, might be 4.5 ) Nothing huge yet, but promising bucks forsure! Checked 2 of 9 cams so far...

Thanks BF, I sure have a good time figuring out these mountain bucks and where they like to roam. I hope to find a hammer or two to hunt this fall. How's your summer shaping up and how does your season look. Good luck with those big Michigan bucks, I've seen some real slammers come out of that state!

Heading out in a few hours after the deer bed down to throw up a few stands and cut some trails. This is a new area i'm really excited about, lots of rutting activity from last year and a few year round scrapes. Should also be a decent pre-season area, thick bedding with good feed close by.

One stand will be at the junction of 4 trails, while the other is at a junction of 5! I will try to get some pictures. Trail Camera is going up as well:nana:

BC, sounds like a great set up area..both of them.. Thick bedding, feed near by and a conjunction of trails.. Plan on lots of west, south and southwest winds in the early season here in N.I. in consideration for your stand placements.. We normally dont get to much wind out of the north until October and later..

Mostly winds out of the south today. Hung the first stand today. Not as much visibility as I would like but the stand is perfect. I have shots at four trails all under 25 yrds. Got the TC up and should be able to tell some more in a few weeks.

Shed, things are looking pretty darn good in my hunting area this year. The food plots are growing like wild. Deer are in them all times of the day. Glassing deer from the road almost every night. I have a solid 4.5 yr old that I am looking to put a tag on this year. Have good pictures of him from last year but none yet for this year. I have seen him the last two trips out glassing. I live in an area where good bucks are shot every year. Really excited for this year cause I just landed permission to hunt the neighboring property for bow season. It is another 76 acres to add to my grounds. I have done homework on this new 76 acres for the last two yrs and believe I have a very good idea whats going on with it.

My forecast is looking up, at least in regards to "time in the woods". It's all but official I will be staying at my current job location for the next 6 months which means I'll be able to hunt almost every night after work at my "good" hunting spot. It's been at least 6 years or so that I've been able to do this.

That's great news Ryan, hopefully more time to allot over in Ohio too if you get your buck taken in PA early...
