2008 Matthews DXT vs. 2011 Diamond Outlaw - Need Help! Here is my dilemma. I am looking for new bow, completely outfitted for around $500. I have a friend-of-a-friend that is selling a 2008 Matthews DXT with NAP drop away rest, three pin sight, matthews quiver and hard case for $500. I have also been looking a new Diamond Outlaw outfitted fully with the R.A.K for $499. The statistics of the two bows are nearly identical and both get good reviews. If anything went wrong with the Matthews, I would not qualify for the factory warranty since I am not the original purchaser. With the Diamond, I get a warranty. Is it better to go with a good new bow or a more expensive used bow? Please lend me some advice. I am fairly new to the bowhunting game and welcome any wisdom. I don't mind If you are biased. Just tell me as much.
You are the only one who can answer your question by shooting both bows to see which you like best. If the original owner didn't register the Mathews then you should be okay with the warranty. Personally, I won't buy a bow with accessories already on it because 9 times out of 10 I'm going to replace everything on it with my favorites anyway.
I shoot a DXT, and I love it. I never shot the Diamond Outlaw, so I can't say how that compares. All my prior owned Mathews bows have been good to me, so I guess I'm one sided here. Not much help I suppose, but good luck with your decision anyway.
Durability vs. new bow with warranty I guess part of my question is whether it is better to choose the durability of a top quality used bow (Matthews DXT) or the warranty and "newness" of the new bow (Diamond Outlaw)? If we say everything else is relatively equal between the bows, will the lifespan of one be greater that the other?
Dawg if that Outlaw shoots anything like my Iceman FLX I would go with that bow then. I have never shot the DXT.
