Any perspective on differences between an '08 Allegiance and the previous models? Slightly lighter riser I understand, but does it shoot as good? How is the cam lean on the '08? Did it still use speed mods and smooth mods or were they consolidated?

All I hear now is about the Airborns and Generals, Admirals, etc., but I may have the opportunity to pick up a new '08 still on stock at a dealer.

I think they are a fantastic bow. I've got an 07' and the only difference between it and the 08' is stock color, and Invelvet. The cam colors may be different as well.

This is the first time I have owned a hunting bow that didn't get sold immediately after the season was over in probably 5+ years. I'm not planning to get rid of it anytime soon. I may get another hunting bow for 09, but I seriously doubt I'll get rid of this Ally.........anything new has got some big shoes to fill. I'm thinking about sending her off to get dipped in a different camo and just keeping it forever..........if I get another hunting bow at least it will be the coolest backup ever. :d

Thanks Matt and Jeff, I was hoping to hear that. Never owned a binary cam bow and last one I even shot was an '05 Allegiance, didn't care much for the draw cycle and being it was pretty new out at the time I opted for an '05 Pariot.

    Any other thoughts are appreciated.

If you like smooth, then the smooth mods on the Ally are awesome. My Allegiance at 66lbs drew smoother than my Marquis at 63lbs when the smooth mods were installed. I actually hunted with the Ally at 63lbs, and when Matt drew it at my camp he thought it was actually 55ish lbs. I honestly think the Ally w/ smooth mods was the smoothest bow they made last year. Big difference compared to the 05' cams.

Picked up an '08 Alley a couple days ago. Haven't set it up yet, going to put new sight, rest, stabilizer on it along with a quiver before the deer season. Mods are being switched to 29.5" smooth mods. 50-60 lbs. is all I need and can handle these days because my shoulder is not getting any better. Gave the Patriot to my son, and upgrade for him and I don't think we will ever part with the Patriot. If I were buying new the Swat, Admiral, Elite GT500, and especially the Hoyt AM 35 would have been my picks. I just didn't feel like putting out that kind of $$$$ for a new one at this time.

Thanks Jeff. If I have vane clearance issues I may return to shooting feathers, but as much as I like the Blazers and want to try the Fusion vanes.......we'll see.

CM, I've shot and continue to shoot Blazers off my 06 Alley. If you shoot "rooster" vane straight up, the inside Blazer can catch the cable however, I turn my up vane slightly in and I clear both cables and rest and have perfect arrow flight. So much so that I managed to shoot Muzzy, field tips and Snypers together.

Note: This is with a TT Pronghorn drop away.

If you have an issue or when your ready, PM or I can call you and get you straight away. No issue.

Thanks Rob and Jeff. I have not put a rest on it yet because I am being told so many things about using a rest on a binary cam bow. This is my first binary cam bow so from what I understand by putting a dropaway rest that uses a cord tied to the buss cable or downward travel cable I run a big risk of upsetting cam synch and affecting letoff. The cam synch is the biggie for me. I'd rather use a rest that will not cause me to have to resynch the cams. Yet I read where some have not had any issues.

Anyway, I did not put a certain rest(Schaffer) on because I was told by a few people I would have problems using it because of being tied in to the downward cable.

By the way, a shop switched cams for me to fit my draw. i went with smooth mods but had to move the post a tad, which resulted in a little lower letoff and shorter valley........I like it! Damn this bow is smooth! Now I am thinking of ordering some speed mods just to see the difference.

I think it was Rick James(Matt) that also chimed in telling me I would love this bow. He is right even though I haven't shot it yet! But the feel of just drawing it and the sideplates on the grip.....well, I can't wait to set it up. I really don't even care what fps I get out of it.

If your draw stop isn't in the EXACT correct position....THAT can and will affect letoff. I know that from experience.

Yup, i know that and already did it. I shortened the draw to fit me better and it lowered the letoff and shortened the valley..........and its perfect. Only had to move the draw stop a tad or even less. I am not a perfect 29.5" nor a perfect 29" draw. Already shortened my draw a 1/2" a few years ago from 30".

Hard to beat the Limbdriver, as far as rests go.
