First, I was up at a neighbors house and he told me that when a buck is in rut the meat will taste gamy, is this true? I've never herd this before.

Second, I watch arrow affliction on sportsman channel, the host uses arrows that have some 5 monster fletchings on it.. what is the purpose of these?? He only shoots these arrows at ariel targets usually in the show.

Well You'll get different opinions on question 1..but yes it can certainly be gamier.

It's more important to hang and age an older rutted up buck. Then you can add soot or pork to the burger to cut the harsher taste. You can also, soak, roasts, steaks etc for a night prior to cooking in milk, this will help relieve the gamienss. Get your young does for good eating. Make sausages and bologna, and jerky from the rutted up buck!

#2 is a Flu-Flu arrow. It has limited travel for shooting at flying targets.
