The first good buck I got on camera this year I started calling Harambe (last years buck was Cecil, I think you can catch the trend). I had passed this particular buck 2 times in '15 when he was a 2 year old.

Now 3, and scoring into the 140s by my guess and carrying a clean 6x6 frame, he was on the list. He was not living on my farm though, and just seemed to use it as part of a big loop, once every 5-7 days roughly. I was hoping he would lock into my area once the rut hit like he did last year, and like Cecil did as well (their travel patterns and tendencies were scary similar). Yesterday I heard word a neighbor down the road had killed a nice buck. Today I got the picture and instantly felt that lump in my stomach. It was Harambe.

My last picture of him was at 4:46 am on October 21st walking north. He was killed trailing 2 does at 6:20 that night nearly 2 MILES southeast as a crow flies, and including crossing a rural country road. This bad boy went 2 miles, over 14 hours, during the 3rd week of October, in broad daylight.

I tracked down the lucky hunter tonight and shared some trail cam pics with him and sent him my congrats, he was thrilled with his buck and rightfully so!
