1st time using hand held gps

    just bought a garmin etrex legend,want to use it for going back and forth to tree stands in a area i have never hunted before.question did i buy the right gps for this use?its a pretty swampy area of public land,that does not get hunted alot. thanks jody

    For that purpose i think about any GPS will work. I have no experience with that model myself but you can't go wrong with garmin. Myself I use a garmin Oregon for out west.

    I'd say your safe with that, if all you are looking to do is get to and from your stand, it will work great.

    Don't rely on it tho, I use one on all my out of state hunts, but it's more for reference. I always have a good idea where I am using a map before I commit to anything.
