How do those homemade cameras compare in price and quality compared to some of the other trail cameras on the market?

Nice little build Jeff! Maybe one of these days I might actually put a P41 in the woods :p I just can't seem to pull myself away from them Pannys though.

Price and quality depend on what you build yourself...There are guys out there running the same homebrew from 8 years ago. I personally run between 10-20 homebrews all year round and each cam is different with different strengths and weakness. But you get to pick what you want and how you want to build it, as well as being able to fix it if something does fail. I do still use a couple commercial cams but the pic quality doesn't compare and neither does the consistency though they are getting closer. Cost of a build you do yourself can be just under 100$ and a few hours work for a basic baitpile/scrape cam and up to a couple hundred bucks for newer/better cameras with all the bells and whistles...there are a few builders who build just to sell cams and will back them with maintenance and repair for a couple years but you will pay for it up front...thing is you'll likely get years of use before needing fixing(which most will not charge labor for anyway unless it is something like bear damage etc).

Great looking build. Is it your first? The P41 with that board should be a very fast camera.

Very cool. I have a few 1020s but never have attempted a 1010.

CSB, check out hagshouse.com. Awesome resource.
