Put down a slickhead on Sunday... yes we get to hunt on Sundays in NC now.
2nd day of the season, thats a personal best for me.
1st year using Rage and I was skeptical to say the least. Doe was right below me and in my Summit Viper that is a tough shot to make. The shot was further back then I liked but she still dropped within 40 feet. so for at least this moment, I'm a believer.

My son (14) this is his first year bowhunting.. he got his nerves all twisted up when a 6 point walked by at 40 yards, but Im proud of the kid.... he knew his comfortable kill range and didnt take a marginal shot opting to let him walk, at least thats the story he tells me and he is not one to make stuff up, thats the makings of a good hunter.

Then yesterday I took a half day off from work to hunt the evening I got a call from an old friend that owns some farmland up the road from me. Said he saw my post about shooting the slickhead and wanted to know if I wanted a shot at a giant. I have never hunted his land, never even asked to, because he just doesnt let people on it. but he said he saw a monster 10 still batchlored up with a only slightly less monster 8 in the field behind his house. Said he had been glassing for the past 2 weeks every day. Said he wanted to see me kill it and I was the only one that had permission to hunt it. I went yesterday, but at 90 degrees it was just too dang hot for anything to move. Ive got a pretty good idea of his pattern, and found a good tree to camp out in. Maybe it will happen. If not the esclusive rights to this meadow will produce something if not him.... I have no doubts.

All in all ... WHAT A FRIGGIN AWESOME START TO THE SEASON!

what type of Rage u use on her? The 2 blade or 3.Good going on the Doe!Keep up the good work....
My Son shot a Doe last yr with the 2 blade and the interal bleeding was unreal. Not much of a blood trail but she piled up within yards of where he hit her.Complete pass through, but the wounds plugged up wit fat, hence the small blood trail.

2 blade ... I had the same situation with the lack of trail , but that was on me. my shot was too far back and the hole got plugged. The exit wound was big enough to put my hand in tho... she piled up real quick. and the amount of blood in her when I cut her open was as you said, unreal.

One trick I did find with reusing the Rages is that if you cant find replacement O-Rings after one busts on you, Ive taken some electrical heat shrink , cut a strip, put it where the O-ring mounts and heat it up. I like the way it holds the blade together better then the original 0-ring. its a helluva lot cheaper for more product, and its much easier to obtain. I keep some in my pack for quick repairs in the field.
