Hey everyone it's been a few weeks since we posted. Things have been busy! But we're back... every year after Thanksgiving we head up to North Florida to run dogs. First drive of the year and it didn't dissapoint. The dogs run the deer right to me!

    Happy holidays everyone!

Here's a video of the hunt...

After watching some of the video, I was thinking what a field-day a Pa Game Warden would have there. None of that hunt even resembles anything legal here in Pa.

Or here in MD....what little I watched.

I was brought up a little different about dogs running deer.

I've never done it, but I know folks who love it. Believe it or not, it was THE WAY folks hunted deer in the South for a long time. One of my mentors concerning coastal plain hunting was considered crazy when he started climbing trees to shoot deer in the 70's.

So long as it's done legally, I have no problem with it. It's become almost a complete non-issue where I hunt in SC just because there are so few clubs who still do it. A lawsuit against International Paper over in Georgetown County changed a lot of big timber companies' minds about the practice.

But I saw some fellas on the NC side of the border last Saturday on the road side with their electronic gadgets, trying to locate one of their deer hounds. It's still really big in southeastern NC.

Dogs do not know property lines. Where do I get a pair of Nike Air Hunters?

Thanks w33kender.. we watch a lot of videos of deer dog drives in the Carolinas and it seems like it's still pretty well accepted there. They seem to harvest a lot more than we do here. We typically only take bucks and big does, which most hunts means we don't kill anything. We enjoy it, we love our dogs and it's legal here in Florida so we'll stick with it. I'd encourage anyone to at least ride along sometime to see what its all about.
