    I spoke of this before and now it's time to make it official. I am going to host the first (that I know of) ever Bow Biatholon. Looking at a weekend in June or July of 2009 here in South Central Iowa, but will change that date to whatever fits the majority. I have plenty of space for those who want to tent camp. The contest will be broken into the following categories:
    Pro Men (Competition archers)
    Pro Women (Competition archers)
    Senior Men (Males 50+)
    Senior Women (Women 50+)
    Adult Male (Males 18-44)
    Adult Females (Women 18-44)
    Teens (13-17)
    Juniors (under 13)

    I will set up a course on the property that will be approximately 1 1/2 mile in length. At different spots along the course, the competitor will have to stop and shoot a target that will be between 10 and 60 yards. At the finish line, will be one last target at 80 yards. The competitor will be scored on:
    1. The time to get through the course;
    2. Each bullseye shot will deduct 2 minutes off their time;
    3. Each hit on the target that is not a bullseye will not effect their time;
    4. Each miss will add 5 minutes to their time.

    I would like to see sponsors on here, but if that cannot happen, have a $35 entry fee for each contestant and then prizes would be 40% to the winner of each category; 30% to second; and 20% to third. The remaining 10% goes to cover trophies and medallions for the Junior Division. Any funds left over will be donated to the Paralyzed Veterans of America for their annual deer hunt.

    Please let me know if you are interested (both contestants and sponsors).

    Thanks,

    Mark

    I think you could triple the shooting fee and sweeten the pot quite a bit. I don't think it will lower your enrollment either.

    Are there any equipment restrictions, or just shoot what you bring?

    Marked or unmarked yardage? If it's unmarked, I think your average guy is going to lose a lot of arrows at those distances.

    If it is not the weekend of the Bowhunting.com Get together then I may be up for a road trip. Won't know for quite awhile though.

    Shoot what you hunt with.

    Unmarked but I will be putting bales behind each target.

    I came up with a low entry fee because I'm a cheap bugger myself, but would set the fee at what the majority think is fair.

    The weekend isn't set is stone. I just thought of when the kids would be out of school and before it got hotter than the ring around a rattlesnake's arse. Any weekend would actually do, it's not like I'll be going anywhere.

    Also, this ain't no mamby pamby course. My property is really hilly and the first half of the course would probably separate the men from the boys. There will be targets that are higher than the shooter, targets that are lower, and a couple on even keel with the shooter. The second half of the course would be about 1/2 mile dash to the last target at the finish line. So when you get to the last one, you're already winded and now have a 80 yard shot to make.

    Just got off the line with someone and here's the deal. The price would be $35.00 (gotta cover the price of T-Shirts) and I was just told there are vendors interested in coming out too. Now, I gotta do some figuring on how to price vendors!!!

    Catching a lot of feedback about June. I just thought of that month because of the normal heat in July & August. But I am flexible. Would the 2nd weekend in July work better for people?

    You don't work Peak. You do the same thing that I do. We both go to offices and spend tons of time surfing bowhunting.com. If my boss only knew what he was paying me for!

    My wife just had In Vitro and we are waiting to see if we are pregnant. If so I'll have one-three little ones popping right around then and be way to busy changing diapers and buying Camo baby gear.
