Passed up a 150+ class buck, I think I'm going to regret this. I wasn't comfortable with the shot, would've had to shot through a small opening in the cedars. Really hoping I did the right thing. Has anybody already had this happen this season?

You did exactly the right thing if you weren't comfortable with the shot. Shots through brush and such result in deflections and being sick over a lost deer. Stay with it and he'll be back. If you can reposition your stand a bit, that may help. Good Luck and congratulations on your wisdom and self control.

Agreed...regret that it didn't work out...not that you didn't take the shot. You did exactly as you should have.

Regret what? not wounding a deer that you would never find and never see again? You sir made a mature decision. Congrats!

Agree 100%! You definitely made the right choice. There are too many people out there ready to jump the gun and take a bad shot. Glad to know there are still a few of us with morals and respect in the woods

I agree also. Last year I had a shot at a 170 but could not stop him at 15 YARDS!(chasing a doe). Turns out he came back 10 days later and now he is my profile picture! Be patient its early. Good for you on respecting the animal!! Good luck on him

I think Muzzy Man said it best, you had some self control. That is hard to do in the heat of the moment and I think you absolutely did the right thing. Good for you!

we are not rabbit hunting so shooting into the brush is never an option for us bowhunters. Be proud of your decision and get ready for the next encounter with him, because of fact that you didn't shoot you will most likely see him again in the back of your truck. Good luck buddy and Rock Chalk Jayhawks.

Naw I don't just got back from afghanistan, just set out cams a few days ago but I did manage to get 6 stands up in the past week. Hunting on Fort Riley 71,000 acres available for hunting and not many hunters at all. They only allow 200 civilans or dod workers to hunt on post, since i'm active duty that gives me acess to all the perks here on riley! Hopefully I will have pics of him this week on cam or in the back of the truck.

Only thing that you could of regretted from this situation is if you had shot. Good choice!

Nothing you will regret more thantaking a marginal shot on a trophy animal and losing it, better to pass and kill shoot and lose, I have been there many times, I commend you for doing the right thing!

If anything positive to take from this, is the fact you had a deer in range of that caliber! Gotta take the good with bad in hunting fella
