I couldn't get the elevated pic to open in paint

But IF I were to shoot the original, here's where I'd aim.

All these pictures were taken from 16 foot elevation.

I have learned a lot from this thread. I can see that I am way too judgemental and trying too hard to hold others back because of my lack of ability, experience and what I consider to be ethical, which is only taking shots that have proven over time from the culmination of many, many hunters's experiences, to have a high probability of a successful and timely recovery, as opposed to those that have proven to have a much lower % of success.

But heck, I can see where maybe we all should try and re-invent the wheel and just really see what can and can't be accomplished with modern bowhunting equipment. I mean really, you will never know if you don't try.

So along these lines, if you don't want to go through the front, just go for the jugular or the femoral, maybe a spinal shot and the follow up shot. I don't care, so long as you know what you are doing and willing to live with the consequences.

Heck, if you are good of a tracker and really deer savvy, just take a gutshot. I am sure with your experience you can find it, and if not, oh well it is just the first day of the season.

If I was using a rage BH I would just shoot them in the neck and cut their head off.

Speaking of 1/4 to shots, jsut watching whitetail freaks & they had a 1/4 on this GIANT double split g2

Hit it in the spine at the base of neck meets body & dropped it.

I myself would wait for an opportunity at a broadside shot. If it doesn't happen i guess it depends on the severity of the quartering turn.

2" off the mark w/ a strong quartering to shot and you have a wounded deer on your hands. No way will I take the shot. I've been doing this long enough to know how bad it sucks when you wound one like that. I've lost em bigger than that and it still haunts me.

Id pass...and hope he provided me with a better angle. If he walked away without an arrow in him I wouldnt be that crushed since I live in the land of "giants", and hopefully one of them would make a mistake in front of me!
