A few weeks ago i finaly got my wife to let me get my hoyt alphamax 32 wich i freakn love this bow its amazing. But i really figured I would get a little bit better speeds out of it...I crono'd it at 282 wich is fine dont get me wrong but i really wanted high 290's. I am set up at 65DW 28DL. I shoot a light arrow at 332 grains (thats not with the knocks and flechings) IDK do you think that the extra 5lbs up to 70 make the diff or not??

Hoyt has never been a speed demon company. I think you should be happy with a nice bow...Jumping to 70# will not make a big difference. Remember, it's not a speed game. I would never sacrifice shooting what feels good to me for a little more speed. I shoot a 403 gr arrow at 60# for 268 fps and get awesome performance.

It's more likely the two inches off IBO specs you're giving up than it is the five pounds... Typically, one inch robs you of 10 fps (speaking in generalities here...). So, shooting two inches shorter than what the bow is spec'd in at loses you 20 fps right off the bat.

Too many people don't understand "real-world numbers" for the average hunter vs. what's thrown out in the media as eye appeal. (Not pointing a finger at YOU... I mean almost EVERYone. :) )

One of the reasons I appreciate BowTech using a 29" draw when they run their bows through the chrono to assign it a speed on their birth certificates; I know that's more realistic, as the average bowhunter does NOT shoot a 30" dl bow.

I really wish the industry standards as a WHOLE would change... to something more like 29" dl, 65 lbs. with 7 g/lb arrow. It'll never happen though, as too many people would perceive that the industry would be moving backwards when in fact it would just be that they would be more realistic.

if you can adjust the % let-off if you make it less of a % let-off that might make the arrow speed a little bit quicker so instead of 80% let-off drop it to like 60%let-off but i could be wrong just an idea
