I'm looking into getting a new string for my bow because the one I have now is starting to show some wear on it. I was just wondering what strings you guys would recommend looking into. I'm wanting to get them custom to make my bow look a bit nicer.

Have your bow "crackerized". Mike Carter, aka crackers, makes some really great strings and can tune a bow like few others. I would recommend him. Just search him and you will find all the info you need.

You can also order any custom color combo that's imaginable in Octane strings... BowTech's custom string division.

Long viewed as the best stock strings on the market, their Octane line takes it one step further and uses a proprietary blend of 452X and Gore to form 452GX... the Gore strands help self-lubricate the string from the inside-out to keep fuzziness to a minimum.

I'm sure you can order those through MeanV Archery as well. ;)

I agree with Jeff. Bucknasty strings are all I'll use. I've been using them for several years. great customer service and prices that can't be beat for a string with unmatched quality.

I have used several sets of John's strings and I agree they are very good quality, never an issue there. It became frustrating waiting for a set of Strings for 3 to 4 weeks, explaining to the customer they should be here soon. Since I have switched to VaporTrails I have found they are as good as any I have ever use including Winners Choice, maybe even better with the Halo serving, customer service 2nd to none, & delivery in just a 2 to 3 days.

Maybe John is keeping up better now as it has been a while since I ordered any from him. I hope so. I can get Octance strings also but not sure on delivery times on those either.

I've heard great things about both Crackers and Buck Nasty, but they both do get backed up quite often. I am now using Extreme Bowstrings, and I would put their quality against any other. Check out his site, and give Ron a call, he'll hook ya up.

My shop has been ordering from John, pretty much exclusively, for a while now. I've heard my shop owner quote 3 days (he IS a NC resident, though).

Lots of color combos.....and they look great on the bows. I also know a couple of his staff shooters....and there's no way these guys would settle for anything inferior.

    Good luck!

They are 452X. Good Strings! There are several quality strings on the market. A lot of times the choice may depend on availability and cost, but don't be duped into cheap strings, and I'm Not necessarily talking about cost ;-)

Thanks Guys for the PM's and orders!!

BowTech's factory strings have been widely known as some of the best factory strings made.

The new Octane line is new for 2010 and from everything I hear, they are even better.

I've installed a set of Bucknasty string/cables on a bow for a guy here at the house and he was interested in what I thought as I build my own strings as well. I was impressed and told him so.

I've also installed VaporTrail strings and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as well.

From the masses, I understand Crackers strings to be exceptional as well.

    Lot's of great choices.

I've been using Nathan Brooks Strings (B2 Bowstrings) exclusively for about 2.5 years now. They are excellent strings and the customer service is second to none.

The factory string on the '08 (or '09??) equalizer is holding up really nicely. (I'm very mean to my strings) I replaced my string on the '06 equalizer with a Stone Mountain (Dakota?) string. I think it does everything a string is supposed to and it's pretty too. :D

I agree; lots of great choices... I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bucknasty after all the great feedback I've read over the years, Winner's Choice, Vapor Trail, or Octane...

Keep in mind there is a subtle difference in factory BowTech strings and Octane strings; the Octane line is an aftermarket product and is the one that uses the proprietary 452GX. BowTech's stock strings are 452X.

Both strings utilize halo serving and are stretched for over 10 minutes apiece at 400 lbs. among other features.

Like others have pointed out, there's plenty of good choices; I simply mentioned Octane as one of them because a lot of people don't know or realize they can order aftermarket strings from them -- in any color combination available. I'm actually having a set made for my next Destroyer in a special color combo... ;)
