This year started out looking very good having some great properties to hunt and lots of good bucks to go after. A week ago from Saturday I shot a very nice 8 point but wasn't able to recover him. Me and 2 buddies searched everywhere for 8 hours to no avail. I was beyond sick. Fast forward to this past weekend. I was hunting with my friend down near Blakesburg. This area is known for giant deer. On this 40 acre piece we have several deer in the 150+ range and also have a new buck that's pushing 200". It's an incredible property. I wasn't going to hunt Sunday morning but a quick camera pull Saturday night showed 2 of our shooters on their feet during daylight, so I was easily persuaded. I rattled in 4 bucks by 8 o'clock and shot my 8 point at 7! I thought it was a different buck that I had seen run into the woods 10 minutes prior. So when I saw a buck coming my way I focused on my shot. He made a scrape at 25 yards before walking down the trail to 15 yards. I thought I gut shot him and he only ran 15 yards after the shot. Was able to put a 2nd arrow in him and he died 3 steps later! Upon inspection he was quartering away on the first shot and I caught liver and one lung. Second shot took out both lungs. I am proud as heck of this deer but slightly disappointed that it wasn't the deer I thought he was! Turns out he went 130" and is my biggest bow kill to date! Now I will be filming for my buddy to try and arrow one of the big boys and hope they stick around till late muzzleloader so I can get back on them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks guys! Trying to convince the wife to let me shoulder mount him. My 8 point for 2 years ago is lonely! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My buddy wanted to run it in that he still has tags and sent me a picture of our giant that walked by his camera Sunday night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
