This is WAY down the road. However is there anyone that makes a recurve with 100lb draw weight (or higher really) I have a goal, for no other purpose other than to say I can do it, to effectively draw a 100lb bow. However most stop at 60-70lbs, Im currently getting comfortable with drawing 60lb recurve, and want to inch up and up until I at least reach 100lbs.
I know of certain Kassai bows (Hungary) that come close to 100lbs. The use to classify as "horsebows", though.
I'm sure a custom bowyer could make one but be prepared to rob the piggy bank. FWIW, had heard that Fred Bear's recurve was 90 lb. draw weight.
I think the market for 100lbs recurves is too small for the big names to to cover it commercially. But smaller bowmakers would surely make one for you, for a reasonable price. Just ask.
Ugh, don't remind me ... BTW, the Kassai bow I had in mind was coincidentally named "Bear" (Medve), which was/is built upt to 90lbs. Since I draw my horsebows to about 30,5 ... 31", that would be well above 100lbs (for me). However, this bow has glassfiber limbs (not laminated) and heavy siyahs, and thus used to kick quite a bit. I had a 60lbs bow, but sold him - well beyond my (permanent) capabilities in draw weigth. In summary, I would recommend it as second choice, or fallback variant. Laminated recurves are much more pleasant to shoot.
I made a 74lbs longbow... definitely had me working. Even took it to the BC Winter Games for the Gold in stick bow category... I still have it, but to be honest, life, kids, work all limit my time to keep up the traditional side, so I default to my compound for hunting...
check out howard hill archery. on the price lists it says Any traditional longbow may be ordered in lengths from 60 to 70 inches, in even numbered increments. Bamboo bows may be requested at any weight up to 200 lbs., and up to a 32" draw. Other woods will not be guaranteed over 90 lbs. and up to a 30" draw. When a bow is ordered in excess of 75lbs., there is an additional charge of $2.50 per lb. up to 100#, $6/lb. up to 150#, and $10/lb. over 150#.
There some horse bows on Amazon that meet/exceed 100 pound draw, the last time I looked. 3 Rivers used to have some English Longbows in excess of 120-125 pound draw. I don't know if they still do.
I have a 95# Black Widow made for me back in 2019. I still use it often and shoots a 1050 grain arrow at 185 FPS. My everyday bow is another BW 80#, and could shoot a few shots with a 115# bow. Not too bad for a skinny 160lbs guy almost 60 years old.
