Hey all, This is my first post on this forum so i hope i am doing it all right. I am going for my first pig hunt in a few weeks with a mate on his property. i Shoot 100grain field tips and am not sure of a broadhead for the job. I am shooting about 40 - 45 pounds. Pigs can be pretty tough, I'd say 100 grn will be fine, try and get em quartering away if you can. There shoulder blades are like concret.
If your only shooting 40-45 pounds I would recommend a 2 blade, like the Magnus Stinger. Going for the best possible pentration. What type of hogs will you be hunting?
Have hunted them a lot in the past, and my son and I used Montec 100gr with good luck. Do some research on where the shoulder is. It's NOT the same shot as a deer. We've also noticed in bigger groups, they are actually pretty dang smart on how they will move around. Quiet when they want to be, but you can always smell them. Best shot is definitely quartering away and bury that sucker up into his chest. The bigger hogs almost have armor plating on their shoulders. Tough buggers too, even the small ones. Where are you hunting??
You just want to make sure you get a pass through for a good blood trail. Hogs can be hard to kill so you'll most likely have to follow a blood trail to get your hog after the shot. Good luck and post some pics.

I would suggest Razor Tricks by Slick Trick. They are a cut on contact head and get awesome penetration. Most hogs aren't hard to kill as people make them out to be. They are just like any other animal, if you put the arrow where it needs to be then they usually don't make it 40 yards. The most important thing is to stay away from the shoulder shield of a mature boar. Take quartering away shots. Put the arrow in the middle or behind the ribs in a line with their heart/lungs. Also remember that a hogs vitals are a lot lower and more forward than a whitetail's. Check out http://www.texasboars.com/anatomy.html. SHOOT LOW and good luck. Here's a "good eating sized" sow that I shot two weeks ago using 100gr Slick Trick Mags. She made it 40-45 yards. Notice that I shot her right through the lungs just like I would a whitetail.
I've never heard of Black Stump broadheads until you just mentioned them. Keep in mind that you are only shooting 40-45lbs. The Razor Tricks that I suggested are cut on contact so they start to cut as soon as they hit the skin. No wasted energy pushing a tip through the hide first. They also have a very small profile which means less drag. So far they are the best penetrating broadheads that I've used. I accidently killed two porkers with one shot while using them. Busted a rib on the way in and a rib on the way out of the sow I meant to shoot then penetrated all the way through the shoulder of another sow standing behind her and killed her too. It hit the 2nd hog square in the shoulder, just above the joint. Both fell dead in less than 70 yards. The only reason I am now using Slick Trick mags instead of Razor Tricks for hogs is because a few months ago the Razor Tricks and the replacement blades were hard to find. Between a few friends and I we have tried a lot of the popular heads for hogs including Muzzy, Magnus, Muzzy Phantom, Thunder Heads, Montecs, Slick Trick standards, Slick Trick mags, Razor Tricks, and so on. Almost every person that I know now shoots either Slick Tricks or Razor Tricks. http://www.slicktrick.net/
